But, if you just want to light up the landscape and have decided to make them act like extra driving lights, go for as much power as you can get (away with). Don't forget John Law will have something to say about "blinding" light on the street.
We don't have fog here in Arizona.
Not much snow either (where I am). We DO have dust storms though. Lights don't help in those.- Jack
In order to answer your question, we need to know a little bit more about your truck. If you've got a 2005 or earlier truck, I might have some really good news, If you have a 2006 or newer, you might not be so happy.

You know, that's what I hate about getting older. One misses things that are right in front of you - like doors for instance. Thanks for (nicely) bringing that one to my attention.
Seeing as you have a 2003, you have a fog light housing that will allow you to perform a quick and useful bulb change that will about double your light output. Swap out the 9145 factory bulbs for a set of 9005ST Silverstar Ultras. They're significantly brighter than OEM, but don't draw so many amps that you're in danger of melting your harness. Your housings are also large enough to take the extra heat generated. (Guys with 2006 and newer trucks are SOL here.) I think you'll like the effect. I did it to my 2002 (same fogs) and was very happy for the 3 years I owned it.
