Question Interior and runningboard lights stay on

On my '98 Expid. the interior and runningboard lights stay on when parked. The interior light switch is not on. All else seems normal. I pulled #14 fuse and both sets of lights go out. Is there a relay that might be stuck on? If so where is it? Any ideas? Thnx - Rich

Question Interior /runningboard lights stay on

You are right. With fuse #14 in or out the "door a jar" dash light is ON. In reading through the forum it sounds like it may be a sticking door switch. What is your advice? Thanx. - Rich

Take a read through the 2ns sticky at the top of this forum, to see if it is applicable to you :

Thumbs up No More int. Lights on !!!!!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAA!!!!

F150 Fourm and WD-40 did the trick. YA!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks guys. I can add some help to the process. There is a rubber bumper just above the door latch. (AFTER a shot of WD-40) Remove bumper by CAREFULLY twisting and and pulling sideways. This gives an easy access to put the stem of the WD-40 and aim down and around and spray inside. It worked great!!!! I dont know for sure where the door switch is located, I asume just behind the latch, but this worked. Thnx. again. - Rich

Rich,
To give you an idea of what it looks like behind the door skin, this is a picture of when I installed the keypad on my 2001 SuperCrew ( door is shaped a bit different ):

Left side of the picture, about center top to bottom, you can see the small rubber door bumper you seem to be referring to.

Upper right hand side you can see the door handle ( from the inside ).

In the mirror taped to the inside of the outer door skin, you can see the latch mech.

If this is the bumper you were talking about, and it is in the same place, you were just above the latch, which I am sure the "collateral" spray from the straw got the latch pretty good.

Your MY and body truck could be slightly different ( SuperCrew doors are closer to the EXPY doors then to a F150 door in 01-03 MYs ).

Glad this is what you had going on, and got things fixed.

Steve
