Can it be done?
keyless entry help
First i would like to say hello to everyone... I have a 2006 F150 supercrew. As we all know it comes with a 3 button keyless entry remote. I would like to install an actuator (which i have from a previous after makets alarm system) on my ******* tonneau cover. My question is, Can I buy a OEM 4 button remote and tap into the existing keyless reciever on my F150?

my truck didnt have key less entry when i bought it so i bought an all ford vehicles universal system that had a trunk wire. im not sur if your trucks key less entry system has a trunk wire my only guess is to tap into the unlock wire and run it to the cover, but then every time you unlock your truck your cover would pop open. when i installed mine there was a help line to ford that would tell me what wires where in my truck etc. ill try and look around for the number so you can ask them everything. ill try and post back in a day or 2 with it
if u were to splice off the existing unlock lead, wouldnt it just unlock the cover, then when he locks the doors, it locks the cover too, or when put into drive it locks automatically.
or does the cover spring up like a trunk if its not locked down?

With keyless entry are you wanting to lock and unlock or are you trying to release the lids latches?

yah you could run it through the existing set up but it would constantly lock and unlock with the truck.
you could possibly get a remote for another ford vehicle with a rear hatch, maybe like an expy or something that would have the button on the remote, and would still look factory.

I thought about tapping into my exsisting locks, but the lid would lift open each time i unlock my doors. Might just get an after market system and save problems. Thanks for every ones help and opinions
I've got the cover with power locks and I've got mine tied into my door locks . yes it does lock and unlock with the doors . Im sure it would save on the life of the lock if it wasnt locking and unlocking everytime with the doors .But, IMO It's not worth buying an aftermarket system just because of that .
