headlight not working
earlier i installed some aftermarket fog lights. while i was checking the angle of the beams i had the power source hooked to the passenger headlight wire. after about 2 minutes the fog lights went off and the headlight was also off. the high beam works fine but not the low beam. i tried another bulb and the same thing is happening. does anyone know if this h/l is on a fuse or a relay?? please help
ok i just changed the socket and the dam thing still doesnt work. is there like an in line fuse on there or something? i changed the fuses in the cab and engine bay still no light. please help.
Have you checked your Owner's Manual - specifically the Fuse section. I know that the 2004 and newer trucks have separate fuses for each headlight. There's a staggering number of fuses and you need to check all of them. I'd also have checked for power before I went and replaced a socket. You need to find the last place you have power before cutting any wires.
i know that the high beams work on both sides but the low beam is the one that is out. i figured that because i used the headlight as a jumper for the fog lights, then i just burnt the socket. also i do not have the manual for my truck. any help with fuse placement is greatly appreciated.
okay i checked for power at the light socket. no power on the low beam side but high beam checks out. i have read other posts about the MFS but i dont think this is the problem because all was fine until the fog light install.

i replaced the fuses in the cab that are supposed to be the headlight fuses but i still have the same problem. i was looking on eautorepair.com and there is apparently a relay box for the headlights behind the dash. have not seen this box yet.
Few things
1. Try using the search. Limited to the Electrical forum, there are 435 instances of the term owners manual
This would give you one of the 3 links like this one :

2. Using the search term headlamp* in this forum, I have posted in 111 threads, which contain multiple MY trucks. Looking for a 00 to 03 MY would have given you the diagrams :

3. Do you have DRLs ( Daytime Running Lamps ) installed ?
This is the only relay that is behind the dash, other wise there are only fuses, the main headlamp switch, and the MFS.
4. Which Fuses did you replace ?
The statement of replaced the fuses in the cab that are supposed to be the headlight fuses does not provide much information.
5. When you hooked up the fog lamps, did you do this :

This is the only thing that should blow the fuses for the headlamp(s), the relay hooked to the low beams should not blow a fuse, unless you grounded it, and at that point, it should have only blown the fuse for a single low beam, not both ( Low beams are 2 separate circuits. )
Please let us know exactly what you have done so far, so we can move forward with your problem. The more details you provide, the easier it will be to get to the bottom of what is wrong.

no daytime running lamps
1. replaced fuses 26&28 in the cab
2. replaced fuse 3 in the engine bay
3. replaced headlamp socket
4. replaced mfs
5. replaced headlight bulbs (again)
after installing aftermarket fog lights, i ran the wire that connects to the included toggle switch/then to power, to the passenger side low beam (there was no in line fuse at the time, "i know stupid clearly"). i used this as a temp power source so that i could adjust the angle on the fog lights. after a few quick adjustments my fog lights turned off. i also noticed that my passenger side h/l was off. that is where the "fun" began.
i have even tried to run a lead wire from the "good" side the other and still no low beam.
all of the other lights in the truck work just fine.
i hope this is detailed enough to help you all help me.

ok so far today i have run a hot wire directly to the low beam side of the bulb socket with no luck. i did the exact same thing to the high beam side on the same socket and the light fires up.
i am now wandering if the factory keyless entry will effect this in any way. not sure just throwing something out there.

well i have decided to bite the bullet and take this thing into the shop and have someone actually fix my problem
i will post letting the rest of you that are having the same issue, so that you will have something to go off of rather than jumping to your own conclusions!
