Question about the unlock codes...

OK, I know this is not an Explorer site, but can someone tell me where the computer box is in an Explorer and if the code is on it like in our trucks?

What year are we talking about? My wife has an '01 explorer sport trac and the code had to be pulled with a scantool at the dealer.

On an '04, it's attached to the body security module, which is located on the passenger side, near the junction of the c-pillar and the wheel well. I have a site bookmarked at home with a link to a great write-up on finding it... I'll try and find it this weekend.

On the 98 I had it was in the back where the jack was stored. Look towards the front of the vehicle, black box with a white sticker with black #'s on it. This is your 5 digit code.

But he said he has an '03. It's not in the jack compartment on an '03, it's on the body security module as I already explained. Your 98 was nothing like his '03.

Where have you looked? IIRC, it's under the dash by the e-brake.

Yours is easy.

Sit in the driver's seat and look down at your left foot:

Now. place your head where your left foot was and look up the firewall:
(that bar on the right is the brake pedal)

Look for the white box with the white sticker containing a bar code and a 5-digit number.

Mystery solved.
