Remote Start install-radio not working now

I just installed a Code Alarm 530 remote start in my 2003 Ford Expedition. After getting everything hooked up and running I found that the radio is not turning on. The clock comes on when the ignition is turned on, but the radio does not when the key is turned to accesory or to on.

I am wondering if there is a wire harness under or in the steering column that may have come unplugged or if installing the car remote start may have done something to it. I cannot figuire out how it could have though.

Maybe if someone has a diagram of a 2003 Ford Expedition they could email me at desmoguy*AT*comcast.net
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Dave

Kind of an update...the radio clock works and eject tape/CD works...nothing else. It won't turn on or anything. For what its work it seems that I can only see the clock with the headlights on, but that could be because it is night time. It is like it is not getting the heads up to turn on...or not getting power. COuld I have messed up something from the ignition swtich that powers the radio?

THere are controls for the steering wheel to the radio for volume, etc. If you improperly connected one of those to a ground out from the alarm, it would cause the radio to malfunction

Beyond the big harness for the remote start that runs to the ignition, starter, and accessory wires, what did you run the other wires to?

I don't know if it makes a difference or not 98NAVI but I don not have steering wheel radio controls on the Expedition.
TO install it I used a combination of the Ford RKE/VSS/RMST instructions for the 03-06 Expedition. Rev 03/28/05. and Autoalarmpro.com directions. For fuses on the CA unit I added the dome light supervision.

I hooked up the following....
Ground
Door ajar to domelight (Blk/lt blue) near lower a-pillar
Door lock output to Door lock
Door unlock to door unlock (had trouble with this one and hooked it up to the same color wire, but wrong one in the door sill)
Defrost output to defrost
domelight output to dome light output @ headlight switch (orange/lt green)
Parking light output to parking lights
Brake input to brake switch
Horn relay to Horn
starter interupt to starter (cut wire)
HVAC output to accessory (blk/lt green)
Ignition 1 to ignition (dk blue/lt green)
HVAC output 1 to battery (lt green/violet)
battery to batter (lt green/violet)
PKF3 to PATS control modules0-works fine.

Also, I would really like to check the harness at the radio to see if it is even getting power. Diagram with the wire colors would be very helpful if anyone out there can point me in the right direction!

Thanks
Dave

MAKE SURE YOUR DOMELIGHT FUSE IS SET TO NEGATIVE!!! The Orange/Green wire is a negative circuit. If you have the domelight output set to positive you could harm this circuit.

Since my Holiday break is over, I am going to tackle the radio issue again. Anyone have time to help me out with a wiring diagram for the 03 Expedition? 98NAVI?

Thanks!

Sorry dude, dropped the ball and forgot. DOn't stray into the electrical forums all that much. I didn't ask some need to know questions, so I'll post a couple of diagrams. 2wd or 4wd, navigation or not, with or without rear control

Thanks a lot. I have a 4x4 without Navi and with the rear controls....from looking at the last diagram I should be looking for a Pink/Light Green wire that is switched power (acc on the igition key) with LightBrown/red wire for the illumination and red/black that is hot when the key is to start? and then light green/violet that is power all the time. Is that part correct?

I see that there is an "accessory delay relay" that the pink/light green wire comes off from. Is there a chance that is bad? If so, any ideas where I could find it or what else runs off of it?

The acc relay delay is for exiting the car. Like, you turn off the car but the radio stays on until you open the door. It looks like you've got the rest right, check it out and see what happens. Let me know if you need some other diagram.

Well, it looks like I found the problem, with the help of the wiring diagram from 98NAVI!! I looked at your wiring diagram and saw that fuse #22 was also for the radio. There are so many fuses and listed other things that I did not see it in the owners manual, I saw all the others except that one! Well, as everybody always says "check the fuses." I checked that one fuse and that was it! I still need to get a 10 amp one, but I tried it out with a 15 amp and the radio worked, so I suppose I will get a new one and hope it blew due to the installation and all is well now.

I thank you all very much who helped out on this, that little fuse caused and then saved me a lot of aggrivation.

Thanks to 98NAVI and KCAUTOSOUNDS for the help.

New Years Eve Beer for ya all

DOH.... I was hoping to get you into a in-dash monitor....lol Just kiddin... I'm glad it was something simple. That's what we figured... just couldn't imagine anything major happening. I did however one day hook the lock wire to the wrong pink with yellow wire in a 2004 Taurus without checking it. Car was running in the winter when I was installing the remote start and when I probed the wire the car died. Took out the ECM....lol Thank god for warrantee...lol
