Keyless Entry reset... please help!

I just got my new (to me) truck, a 2004 F-150 Supercrew Lariat.
It has 46,000 miles on it so it's no longer under warranty.

Heres my problem. The Keyless entry keypad on the drivers door is not working with the code the dealership gave me. I know the keypad works because when I hit "7-8" and "9-0" it locks the doors.

I've read the owners manual and followed the directions that it gave step by step.
So at this point I'm assuming the dealership gave me the wrong card and code for it.
What can I do? Is there anyay to set a new code without the factory one or is the code printed somewhere on the inside of the vehicle.
This is one of the features I was really excited about and now it's not working

PS I can't go back to the dealership because they are about 7 1/2 hours away from me.

I had read at one time that the door code was on engine computer.

There's some posts here about were to find the code for Keyless entry keypad,on the 02 it's may be under dash drivers side stamped on the mod.The 04 they may have to hook the computer to get it out.In the book it's about putting in a second code but have too run the factory code before you can set up the second code. What I have seen on the posts they move the mod around each year in a new spot. But for a few bucks ($70)a dealer can get it out for you. Keyless entry keypad saved me a few times that's why I went with a FORD.Why do they keep the code card when they get a new vel,we may never know why.

Well you need the original code to program your own code.
The original code they gave me (the one on the card) is not working.
So if the code is stamped somewhere, like the transmitter, than i may be able to avoid paying the dealer to get it for me.

tried it.

I tried to reprogram mine exactly as the book said and it still doesn't work. I used the card in the owner's man. That code doesn't work either. Guess I will have to find the mod. they are talking about.

Found it!

Found the module as described. My manual had the wrong card in it I guess (used truck). Reprogrammed it no problem. Thanks everyone!

HARDCOREHEHAW (never thought I would be typing that!)
anyway I had the same problem with my 2005 F-150
there is Only 2 options for you.
1. go to the dealer and have them get the code from your VSM (Vehicle security Module) or
2.Locate the VSM BEHIND the rear seat back on the drivers side the code is on a white sticker on the front of it.

its a pain in the A** to get to it but it's the only do it yourself solution.

Great that you found it and got the code.Looks like they picked up the wrong manual for that truck, they pull them out too keep people from taking them. Now some other buyer has to go through what happen to you on having the right code for the key pad.

Ben05F150,
Can you describe the box you found? I am looking for the same thing for a 04 expedition. While mine is prolly in a different location I am hoping they look the same. Perhaps you can shed some light on the looks of the box?

Thanks,
Chad

What exactly do you mean behind the rear seat back, Ben?
Do I need to remove the leather from the seat to get to it?

HARDCOREHEHAW,
their are only two ways to get the code...
(1) You have to either go to the dealer so they can read the code by hooking up to the computer at the dealer

(2) remove the UPPER part of the back seat and the VSM is mounted behind that on the driver side, its a black box with two plugs going to it... the code will be on it in the form of a sticker.....you can search on here for info on removing the back seat.... and yes it can be a bear to unlock....

That sounds pretty difficult. I guess i'll just pay the stealership to do it.
I searched and couldn't find info on removing the drivers seat backrest.
Anyone happen to have a link for it?
