2004 expy keyless, key fobs, and programed keys??
Hello all,
Here is what I have. I have a stolen and recovered 04 expy with no keys and a totaled 04 expy with good keys, and fobs. What do I have to swap to make the wrecked truck keys and remotes work in the other one? Where can I find the key pad code for the keyless on the door? Is there a swappable brain for that too? The wrecked one starts and runs fine but the other one has no programmed key although it should start and run fine too. I have most of the dash of the wrecked one apart and am hoping to swap enough parts to make the other one run with the wrecked ones keys. I found the black box above the fuse box for the remote keyless but is there more I need to swap? Thanks a bunch!!

I'd take the ignition lock out of the wrecked truck and stick it in the stolen truck. Then you'll need to reprogram those keys to the transponder in the stolen truck. This'll require a Ford scan tool, NGS, WDS, or PDS.
The remotes, just cycle the ignition on and off eight times, ending in off. The door locks should cycle, press any button on the remote, the locks will cycle again, then repeat for however many remotes you've got. Turn the key off and the locks will cycle one more time and you're good to go.

Thanks man,
Is there no way to just swap enough computer stuff to make the other programed key work? I was hoping to avoid having to have a key programmed. It is cheaper for me to spend days swapping parts than it is to go spend money on keys. My labor is cheap
I will be swapping out all of the locks themselves this afternoon so the physical keys will work. I forgot about the remotes being that easy to program. Is there a brain for the Pats or whatever it is called system I can swap? What about the keyless pad on the door, are the numbers for it located under the dash somewhere? Thanks for the help!

Nope, I can't remember exactly whether PATS is configured through the instrument cluster or PCM on one of those, but regardless, either module is VIN specific. I suppose you could try swapping the PCM and instrument clusters from truck to truck, but they're all on the SCP network and a lot of other modules (such as the ABS module and vehicle security module) are all VIN dependent on each other. You may run into module communication problems.
The keyless entry code for an Expedition should be on the VSM under the dash mounted on the firewall, near the opening for the steering shaft.

Where would it be loacted on a 2004 F-150 Screw lariat 4x4. I have heated seats... just incase that changes anything.
I was told behind the driver's seat but nothing more specific than that, I can't find it.

awe man, a hundo
I could work on this truck on evenings and weekends for a looong time before it has cost me a hundo! Of course, if I **** the wife off by spending too much time on the truck and she leaves me it will cost me a lot more than that but lets hope that doesn't happen
Good god, I had no idea that so many of this trucks parts "talked" to each other. What happened to the good 'ol days of swapping parts and they worked?
Any one else have any idea what areas Pats is tied to?
I have looked under the dash by the column but didn't see anything. I'll dig around in there some more this evening. Do you know what I am looking for? I know what the older trucks keyless brain looks like above the ebrake area but I am clueless what I am looking for in this truck.
Thanks again for all the help with this,
Chad
