radio lost presets,time and on AM
Strangest thing happened. Got in my truck this morning, started fine but radio was on 530 AM. It lost all presets and time was 12:00. Does'nt it have to lose power from battery for that to happen? Could this be computer related? I did search. see others have had this happen but no answers why/how. Anybody got any ideas?? Thanks, Pete

Yes, I suppose it could be loose. I will check as soon as I can get to it. I do find it odd though that several other members have reported the same problem. Thanks for the help tsc. Any more ideas greatly appreciated. Pete

all radio's that need battery voltage for keep alive items such as presets and clocks will have two B+ lines, one battery and one ign.
if the voltage from the battery drops low enough (like during starting) to the cut off point of the radio's designed keep alive circuit, then all is lost.
couple of causes or cures: are check for loose of crudy battery conections, replace that weak or undersized (new) battery.
you could visit an audio shop and get a capacitor to put on the battery line to the radio, to hold the voltage up there, for the few seconds of engine cranking.

I've had that happen on other vehicles in the past. My Ranger did that once or twice with the last battery (finally diagnosed with an internal short/ bad cell) and also a slightly loose battery cable connection.

I just got back in . Went right to battery. Bingo! loose and dirty cable. 'Course I lost presets again. But, I'll bet that was the problem. I want to thank you folks for all your ideas and advice. I'll let ya' know if it ever happens again. Thanks again, Pete
