Speed Pass and Your PATS system...

I saw a story today about Exxon Mobiles Speed pass system and how the key fob can affect some PATS systems on vehicles. what is speed pass? it,s a key fob that you pass in front of a reader on a gas pump so you can get gas without having to use your ATM or cash. thought I'd pass it along

Never had that problem. I have my speed pass on my key ring with my remote entry and key ( I keep my other keys on a different ring as not to put too much weight on the ign, maybe just paranoid about that ?? ).

The speed pass is a little transponder in the shape of a little batton, or club about 1.25" long.

I have never had a no start issue with this.

Now when I programmed my new key, I did it without the speed pass on there, just the key in hand. Maybe programming a new key on a ring with a speed pass is what the story was talking about ???

Never thought of it being a problem, maybe when I go to start my truck today Mr. Murphy will come out of hiding in his safe corner, and screw me on this. Being ignorant to something is usually bliss..

Never heard of such a thing. I've had the Speedpass for at least 2 years now.. You can even use it to buy drinks and chips .

I've had speedpass for over 3 years, and haven't had any problems with my 01 SCrew or the L.

I have had a speedpass for a few years now. No probs with starting my 03 as well.

It is in the owners manual for the 03 though. Basially, just dont put the speedpass NEAR the key when starting. I think if they are too close together, it MAY cause a no start problem.
