Supercabs: Power rear door windows?

Hey guys,

I'm really interested in doing this. Is there anyone out there that has done this? I think that it could work, either using the motors from the expedition or from the windstar. although the motor assemby looks a little big, it might be able to be done with a little modification. Here are a couple pics i took of the one on the expedition:

If anyone has anything to add at all, please let me know, and i'm sure that there are others out there wanting to do this. Thanks!

KingRanch-
You got my attention. After finishing the power slider install, I need another challenge. Post any other findings you have. How are these motors on the Expy controlled? Where are the switches located? So many questions.

they are controlled from switches right behind the temperature/compass module up on the headliner, i guess right next to where the sunroof switch is. The look like just plain windows switches. the first pic i posted basically shows the whole motor assembly, and it is connected to power via a plug that you would also see behind your headlight bulb, same snap in type of plug. i'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get this behind the cover panel on the door.

Can you get a part number off the motor? They look pretty small. I'm dying to make a custom bracket on my milling machine. I would like to pick up a motor to begin a retro fit. Anyone out there have a good pic of the overhead console?

Got some part numbers:
Driver's side - 2L1Z7830479AA - $65.88
Passenger's side - 2L1Z7830478AA - $67.55

The parts guy was not sure if they come with the latches or not. He will have them in on Monday. I can report back then.

jxm, making mounting brackets? what would i have to give you for a set? second, i'll get a pic, but to put em up there would be to replace the whole overhead console. I was thinking about mounting them right behind the front window switches on the drivers side, maybe using the same switches as the powr rear slider (dont have one yet). and i measured the assembly, it is about 6 1/2 inches tall and about 3 1/2 inches wide (2 inches of which is just flat plastic that could be reduced). Let me know how you are thinking about mounting and wiring. thanks a lot jxm!

I will know more about any brackets once I can see the motor and where it mounts to the pillar.

I have my rear power slider switch in my overhead console, just in front of the information screen. It went in fairly easy in the middle. With a little modification to the console sub-structure, you can get two more switches in there.

Monday I should have a motor to play with. I plan to pull off the plastic pillar cover tonight and "scope" out any possible mounts.

Any idea if power vents on any F150 was an option?

I wish I could tell what I'm looking at in those pictures... I understand it conceptually however; the pics are hard to look at.

the first picture is what is behind the molding, essentially the motor mechanism. the second and third are blurred, but one is with the window open, one is with it closed. so you like the idea rp?

I like it... interested to see what you come up with.

You really have been bitten by the mod bug haven't you?

The only concern i have right now is the hole in the window where the bracket would mount to the window. The hole in the supercab's window is smaller than the hole in the expedition, Would this be a problem? Anyone?? Thanks.

I'm interested too!

Hey guys this is a project I have been contimplating also and would like to know the progress. I have a 00 f150 and a 97 Expedition and I have looked at those motors. They are kind of long and slender unlike the F150 swing arms. Probly take a some modification but it seems possible. I also was thinking of going with a supercrew drivers door switch panel and using the back switches for the rear windows. Sound like a possibility?? I'll check back later on to see what else is new. Thanks for the info guys...

Sometimes I drive the 2000 Windstar at work, and those power rear windows are nice, if I remember correctly, the switch for them on the Windstar is mounted on the dash, very easy to get to... it is a good idea to add them to the F-150, I just don't have enough time right now. Good Luck guys.
