Yea crapgame,

A friend of mine and I are going to fabricate a mounting bracket for the motor and use a drivers side panel with the rear controls to control them. We're going to try the junkyard before I order anything. Those 3 pieces alone are probably more than $200. I know the motors themselves are around $50 a piece. We will probably get started on saturday, and if i can, i'll try to take pics as i go to help everyone else wanting to do this.

I pickup the motor yesterday. Played with the window last night. Two words: No Room.

After removing the plastic trim from around the window there is no room to mount the motor without cutting up the plastic trim. I will post and markup some pics shortly about the issues. Anyone else making headway on this?

I knew from the start that there was no room unless the 2 inches of extra plastic was trimmed off. I see most of it as unnecessary. A fabricated mounting bracket would be needed, and as long as that is mounted securely to the motor and the bracket mounted securely to the door, i don't think there should be any problems. What do you think?

It seems like i've been talking to myself lately on this thread, but for those that want the info, I'll keep posting. I went and picked up the part today, along with the retainer for the window. The total was about $60 for one window. It looks like it will fit fine once i cut a little bit of the plastic panel off. I am going to be extremely careful in this project and do a damn good job. Even though i am going to cut out a portion of the plastic, I am also going to fabricate something to cover it so it ends up looking good. I'll try to take pics as I go along to help out the others that want to do this.

Thumbs up Your not alone

Hey KingRanch your not alone on this buddy. I have been trying to figure out a way to do this since I have owned my F150. I appreciate your efforts and if you come up with a good plan of installation and good photos maybe you could build a little business off this and make some $$$$. I will keep watching for updates and thanks for the posts....

Update:

My friend and I today mounted the motors onto the doors. It took about 6 hours total, with about 4 or 5 hours spent on the first door mounting alone. Tomorrow is the wiring to the driver's side door with the new switch panel and bezel and a fiberglass reconstruction of the portion of the panel that we are going to have to cut to get the motor to fit. So far I spent $180 at fordpartscheap.com to get all the parts i needed from Ford - the motors, the retainers, the switch panel, and the bezel. Tomorrow i also have to hit the junkyard to get a wiring harness for the supercrew window switch panel that i had to get because there ain't no way in hell i'm paying $325 for one from Ford! I'll probably end up salvaging one from a lincoln or something since they dont have any f150s or expeditions at all at the yard.

I took quite a few pics and hopefully I'll be able to help a few of you out who still want to do this. Another update tomorrow (Sunday) night after I'm done with the wiring.

Or soldering the wires to the pins on the switches with the help of a really nice guy up in Louisville that has wiring schematics. LOL

Thanks RP, I would not be able to do it without you bud I really appreciate it!

Update:

Today we just got the wiring done, pretty much just wiring from the suicide doors, through the grommets, under the carpet, through the grommet to the driver's side door, and to the switch hole. It sounds like a lot, but it is acutally more! Tomorrow we are molding fiberglass onto the door panels with some extra stuff that will be somewhat of a surprise, and soldering all the wires to the switch panel. Still got quite a lot to do, but the end result will definately be worth it!!!!!!!!!
