Mike, thanks for your reply, I did mistakenly think the tape was the only thing holding the chip in. I do want a little more zip for my 4.2 and I do want my trans to hold 1st gear a little longer and shift firmly. Think I know what I want my wife to get me for Christmas now! Thanks again and I'll be in touch.

Texcowboy,
I know you where not addressing me, but I just had to throw some advice at you.
I bought my chip from Mike and they included some additional instructions with the chip. They are also about the best there is when it comes to customer support.
Just about every one of the posts you read about anyone having a problem either did not buy it from Mike and did not have the benifit of his additional instructions or they did not read and follow all of his advice. I see how it happens...get new toy...wanna hurry up and play with it.
Get it from Mike, the free support makes it a very good value.
Good Luck

Hello screamer,
I bought the belt and ASP pully kit from Mike at performance. To tell you the truth....I have no idea if it was longer or shorter. I ordered them all together to avoid problems.
No squeeling at all yet...it's been about a month. The H.P. gain I got from this mod was about 14 H.P. The gain is at all RPM's.
It was worth it to me. Call Mike and he can give you more details about it. And now that I think about it....I 'm not positive about the H.P. gain. But seat-O-Da-pants meter jumped plum into the wow range...LOL. That last line was for Mikes benifit. I'm trying to give him a nervous breakdown

We have this law, CAN has public health care. Hummm which would I rather have....
BTW 98SCREAMER's truck is sweet. End of Story !
There is constructive critisim, and then what you offer in the line of the looks of 98SCREAMER's truck. Please keep thread topics to constructive critisim.
SSCULLY,
Being the proud Canadian that I am, I opt for the health care.
All kidding aside, your law sounds fair but how do you force a giant like Ford to follow it? Unfortunately they, like many others, follow their ways of doing business and it is up to the individual consumer to pay a lawyer to force them to respect the law. By law is it not up to Ford to prove that the chip caused the failure? The only way to make them prove it, is in court. I used to underwrite insurance here in Canada. We sold liability insurance to Parking lots. Yet most lots have huge signs stating ?Not Responsible for lost or stolen articles?. But they are, because they charge money to store the car. Ford, like all other good businesses, deny first, admit only when forced to, and pay the least amount of money when required to.

It's a small world, I had my van broken into in a Canadian parking lot. This was simply because it would not fit into the parking garage of a hotel. The parking attendents apparently went home at a certain time so no one was watching the store. The next morning they were like, "Sorry." That was the only thing they offered. That's what really gets me, I was treated like a criminal while we were trying to cross over. When we got there I found that criminals were plentiful enough already. Plus the borders guys had NO people skills. Said I was carrying a gun in my vehicle simply because of the state we were from.
One of many reasons I will never come back to visit.,,,,98
Not bashing Canada, that was just my only experience of being up there.

The servicing Ford dealer called today and after another $112 (core charge and shipping) out of my pocket, he claims he is sending me my original failed PCM. Of course, I have no way to verify it is really my orignal unit. I will be sending the computer and chip on to Mike T. to see what their tests say. Call me a fool (as many of you already have), but, I still don't think the chip caused the problem and I do not believe that Ford can deny my claim simply because the chip was installed. Pending the test results, the next stop may be court. Sure, I've got money to burn defending my rights (not!), don't we all?

I can tell you I don't think your a fool and I don't really believe anyone else here does either.
I believe the dealer took advantage of you. I know that I have been had a few times by dealers technicians(thus my reason for being so skepticle of them).
I'm afraid your right about not knowing if your getting the right PCM or if they did something to it to prove they were right. These techs are not fools. I seriously doubt that they are going to freely give up evidence that would hang them.
Anyway...good luck with the issue. I hope all works out in your favor. I am hoping you will keep us all updated as this process works out.

Makes me want to engrave my name on mine right now!! How long has it been since they swapped it out? They may just grab a bad one out of the bin, and hand it to you. It depends whether yours got shipped out already.,,,,98

Report them to the BBB
Take them to small claims court, no lawyer needed, ~ $50.00 filing fee. Then Ford needs to come to you, not you to them.
The part about needing a lawyer to sue is true for larger sums, but if we use a case of 1,500.00 USD, then this is still applicable for small claims.
I have never had to go this far, but it is an option.
Yes you are correct, you need to balance the amount of money needed to recover a fixed amount.
If someone in the US wanted to just eat the charge, they can just report them to the FTC and BBB. And if the dealer was "helping" with the feet dragging, then I would also report them to the BBB.
Getting these types of things reported is the key to the FTC starting an investigation into a compnay, but it has to be more then 1 reported case.
This sounds like a he!! of a mess your in. Not to sound rude, but I can take my superchip in and out from in the cab in under 10 seconds, no tools needed. You don't have too take the computer out. Just my opinion. it could have saved you alot of time and money.
