SCT X4 7015 tuner with 2011 5.0 liter engine
I'm not 100% positive, but I believe this issue with the "canned tunes" only effects the 5.0 liter and is applicable to all 2011 and newer trucks. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Additionally, from what I've been able to gather over the last week contacting SCT is that the X3 canned tunes are the exact same ones that were used on the X4. 87/91/93 Performance
The issue is that the cooling fan stays on 100% of the time independent of what octane performance tune you are running. I've not verified the 91 and 93 octane variants but a tech at SCT said that it is an issue with all three octane levels.
This has been a known issue on another set of F150 forums since Nov of 2012 but was in regards to the X3 3015, which the newer X4 7015 was set to replace. The X4 only been available to consumers for a few weeks now.
And then, to make it worse, they can fix it apparently by writing a custom tune...but they state they will only write it for my 87 octane and not for the 91 and 93 octane variants. A fix is on it's way they say.
I've done no mods to my vehicle (100% stock at the moment) so why should I have to pay for custom tunes when this device was suppose to come standard with three functioning preloaded tunes???
I'm thoroughly disappointed with this device and the customer support I've received up to this point.

Further, IF you had purchased the X4 directly from an SCT custom tuning dealer, you'd have paid no more for 3 to 5 included custom tunes, than you did for the canned-only unit you have now.
A smidge of pre-purchase Research would have let you avoid that. Does not matter that you have no mods. Custom still rules, as the gains are 99% in the tuning not the silly WAI or Fartmaster, lol.
Live & Learn. Just peek at 5Star's, MPT's, VMP's, etc websites and you'd see.
good luck
