CS not giving MPG's even after PHP tunes?
CS not giving MPG's even after PHP tunes?
hey everyone, so finally got the new tunes from Bill over at PHP. put the truck on the 87 performance tune and HOLY *****. my truck seems to have more get up and go with Bill's 87 tune over the Edge 91 tune! Truck just runs so much better, sounds so much better and feels so much better.
BUT. Here are a few issues i have and hoping you guys can help me out.
When i updated the programmer for the first time via Fusion, the MPG dial when to three dots... Even after returning the truck to stock, its still three dots.. Put the new PHP tunes onto it and hooked it up to the truck today, STIll three dots.. Tried doing a different screen, and it just is a blank box.. SO, any ideas why the cs doesnt want to calculate my MPGs?!

I just had a thought. When the CS/CTS first came out for Ford trucks, it would not show the Average MPG (they were working on the algorithm), but it did (and mine DOES) show the Instant MPG. You did not say which one you are missing. If it is Average MPG, it's possible they had produced code to show it and issued that in a minor update (which I have not done), but then (in a later update) took it off due to errors. (You said it disappeared after a firmware update.)
THe Average MPG seems to be rather hard to calculate with any accuracy. One thing that screws it up is the amount of alcohol in the gas, since that changes the A/F mixture ratio in closed loop.

jack, thanks for the reply. it never showed the average mpg, but the instant mpg, which now it does not. i shot an email to bill a few minutes ago, so we shall see what he thinks. I figured if anyone on here would know what was going on it would be you lol

Well, sometimes I guess right, but not this time. :o This condition you have HAS to be a software/firmware problem from Edge since it happened after an upgrade (which you needed to do before your tunes arrived). It's probably firmware and Bill may not be able to correct it, but at least he has a bit of clout with Edge and may be able to get them to fix it.
