Did you read the stickies at the top of this forum? If not, that is the place to start.

Your asking yourself the wrong questions. All a programmer does is load the tune, unless you want some fancy useless gauges. You need to find a reputable company that knows what they are doing and go with their tuner. I have the Edge CS and would not recommend it on the 09-10 platform. It does not have any tranny control at all minus shift firmness . Call up VMP or 5 Star, both of those companies seem to have their stuff together.

With troyer and power hungry performance you will be waiting possibly 6 months for custom tunes, entirely to long IMO. As I mentioned earlier stick with VMP or 5 star. Not only do these companies offer a great product but they also return emails and are very easy to get a hold of. Great customer service goes along ways.

He appears to have an 05 and to me, the Gryphon is the best hardware for 2004-2008, which means PHP. I have never had a problem getting help or my tunes from PHP and love the gauges with the hardware. If mine should fail, I will go back to PHP for a new unit.

So, what you will get is a lot of opinions, all correct, none wrong. You will need to do a lot of reading and decide what is best for your needs. keep in mind that none of them are going to pay for themselves in fuel savings, but really wake the truck up and make it fun to drive.

Depends on what you're looking for?

Sct xcal3 offers great user interface and dataloging capabilities but no gauges unless you move up in price to the livewire....

Monochrome Gryphon is great for the gauges but limited dataloging.....

Then there's the cs/cts offered also by PHP that have great displays but limited user adjustments and no dataloging.....

I use the Gryphon cts from PHP but would like to have an sct xcal3 also for the datalogging capabilities....

I'm going to take slight exception to the term "fancy useless gauges". I use and want them. So do Bluejay and 88racing. To us, they are anything but useless.

And, as Bluejay hinted, for your truck, the PHP Gryphon is a good product. It WILL give you tranny control. That feature is missing, for now, in the units for 09+ trucks from PHP or Edge.
