Looks like its PHP then. What is the difference between a Gryphon and an Edge anyway?

3.73 gears are fine for 35's especially with a programmer like the Edge that changes transmission shift points if you had 3.55's I would change them but 3.73 gears will do fine, 4.11 and 4.56 are only good if you dont drive anywhere but offroad I wouldnt recommend them for a daily driver or alot of highway driving.

The only difference between Gryphon and Edge is the custom written tunes for the Gryphon by PHP made for your driving style.

someone needs a clue



4.56 gears are decent for a highway driven supercharged 5.4 turning 35 inch tires but 4.88's would be preferred

Far more than that... just for starters ...

Full Seven digit stategy-matched calibrations for custom tuning.

Ability to properly & safely correct for mods - especially Washoobi's.

Better gains over canned calibrations for any given octane level.

More sophisticated control over shifting, TC behaviour, etc - as the custom tuner feller has access to far more parameters than the end-user adjustments in a canned tune.

HDRider - terajerame can be somewhat undiplomatic in his responses, but he's generally giving good advice and I agree with him here. If you increase your tire diameter by 2 inches (in the 31-33" range) you lose about 6% in acceleration due to the force reduction at the pavement/tire interface caused by the longer moment arm. (The relationships are all linear and are very easy to calculate.)

Now, a programmer with custom tunes MAY be able to give you a 6% increase in torque, but that's with everything working perfectly. If you increase your tire diameter by 4 inches, you're losing 12% acceleration. No programmer is going to make that up. Gears are the only answer.

The only part I'll admit ignorance about is the effect of supercharging the engine and using bigger tires. With supercharging, you're raising the HP and torque curves, so you are delivering more torque to the rear axle. My big concern here is the transmission. It's the interface and the weak link. A higher gear ratio will reduce the strain on the transmission caused by that higher torque output and should keep the transmission happy. My ignorance centers around the proper gear ratio to achieve that result. BUT, I know I would not want it to be low, and, I'd probably try to beef up the transmission too.
