Need some advice please!

Well guys Im pretty new to this but here it goes. I have an '07 F-150 4x4 lariat 5.4. I have been doing a lot of reading on here about the "gotts" air intake modification. Is this the same as Installing an aftermarket CAI? Should I worry about my truck running to Lean if i do this?? And I just ordered a Diablo Sport Predator. I had planned on doing all of this together, but I have read on here that running a CAI on canned tunes is playing with fire. Is what I am planning to do a bad idea?? Like I said Im not a mechanic, and Im pretty new to doing anything to my truck other than regular maintenance. Any advice, help, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Josh

1. Welcome to the site
2. Please post a topic in just 1 category
3. Gotts mod is a great CAI alternative. http://www.fordf150.net/articles/idx...ification.html I wish I had joined this site and knew about it before I bought my CAI
4. Since you have a 5.4, you will more than likely run lean with a CAI and canned tunes. Therefor run the tow tune only and you should be fine. Custom tunes are always the best for setups including a CAI.

Hey Josh
The Gotts mod will give you gains similar to a CAI withought the chance of running lean and only costs like $15 and will work fine with canned tunes. CAI will be taking a chance on running lean without custom tunes. Here is a link to a write up Jack did for the gotts mod

Hope this helps and please refrain from double post

And of course I post in the other thread instead of this one. My post in the other thread echos what the folks above me posted. Gotts saves you money, and reduces the risk of running lean.

it's well know that diablo supports many aftermarket CAIs with their "CAI tunes" so going with a CAI is a viable option if you need more info contact "Diablo Mike" he works for diablosport and he'll gladly help you with any problems.
