Edge upgrade

Hello, I currently have an Edge Evo running the stage 2 canned tune. I have a S&D cold air intake and a Magnaflow exhaust, so I was thinking about having some custom tunes done. But now I'm confused. I read about having the edge transformed into a gryphon by PHP so that it can have custom tunes added. Is this the way to go? I really dont know much about this, so any help would be appreciated. I am also looking to add a lift and 35's in the spring, so I figured a custom tune might help me there too. Thanks for any input. Mark

It's the only way to go. And you need to do it NOW. The Edge is designed and meant to be used on STOCK trucks.

The lift and 35s are screaming for a re-gear. The tuner can only do so much.

if you don't regear it, you'll regret it later but you're already messing with your motor so why not add the transmission to that list of what you'll be replacing real soon as well

- a custom tune is way better than a canned tune (and running a CAI on a canned tune is playing with fire)

Since the truck only has 30,000 on it, Im not real worried about the trans. Its not even a daily driver. Why do you say running the CAI with the canned tune is playing with fire. Ive been running it for over a year with no issues. If I have to regear it its no big deal anyway, since my best friend is a Ford tech. Where does anyone recommend having the tune done. Like I said I saw that PHP can do it, then I started reading posts about how long it takes for them to get it done and it worries me. Thanks again for the input.

So do you have to put 456's in the front and rear? Where is a good place to buy gear sets?

If you ever plan on using your 4x4, it would be best to match the front & rear gears.

so you never realised that your 3 valve motor is prone to running lean with the hot air intake on there????

if PHP's wait times worry you, search out the wait times for Troyer

PHP is the only one who can convert the Edge to a Gryphon and write custom tunes for it.

So troyer only can do it if you have a gryphon.

Troyer does sell Edge, but only with canned tunes. The Edge Evo cannot be custom tuned without being converted to a Gryphon. PHP is the only one that does this conversion and the only one who writes Gryphon tunes.

I read about having the edge transformed into a gryphon by PHP so that it can have custom tunes added. Is this the way to go?
That's your ONLY option for custom tunes with an Edge.

Yes, PHP has a backlog right now, but Troyer's backlog for SCT custom tunes is a heck of a lot longer.
