Lost on tuners! HELP!!!
Lost on tuners! HELP!!!
Alright everyone, I have an 2007 XLT 5.4L. I'm wanting a tuner but trying to weigh out the pro's and con's. First of all, is it really gonna be that big of a change? Secondly, where do I start to look, what's gonna be the best for conserving gas and giving me a little extra push? And lastly, Are the custom tunes easy to understand and use? Thank you ahead of time!!!

Hi.
Don't do it! Programmers are junk - I mean really - what is a hunk of silicon with some code gonna do for that big American Iron? Ford's tunes are already the best - GO FORD !!!! YAY !!!!
What you really want to do is:
- Giant 4" dual exhaust - no crossovers, use crimp bends, aluminized tubing (steel electrical conduit is cheap & found everywhere) using multi-chambered mufflers - the more baffles, the better. Backpressure is KING !!!!
- Huge Aluminum tube intake kit - 4" tube or larger. Mondo BIG Air !!! Hot stuff!
- Gauze air filter for the above intake - but DO NOT oil it - that just attracts more bugs 'n stuff and fouls the MAF - you wanna let it breathe
- 35-37" tires - this will add momentum once you finally get rolling and save lots of gas - you can coast often this way, too. And with the lift - y'all can see real good, aight.
- 6" lift for the above - more air under the truck means better aeros -avoiding the ghastly drag of gound-effect...
To top it all off - 55 watt 10,000-30,000K HID's in both yer stock heads and fogs - no need to aim them, as they'll throw light everywhere - looks Waaaay cool to - which is by all accounts on here, supremely important - certainly far more so that mere night-time visibility ...
Lastly - read this: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...unes-read.html
And - see links in my siggie.
Good luck! Don't listen to any of these other guys, or let 'em dissuade you from the magic list above - they know bupkis
Ignore the Search Function as well - vastly overrated - all you'll find is conflicting info from those very same bupkis-peddlers, lol. Just listen to Bubba....

From Shotgunz...
I'd go with this simple, but HIGHLY EFFECTIVE (and proven) procedure:
1. Build your knowledge foundation by reading the hundreds of threads in this forum
2. Decide you want custom tunes (no option here)
3. Determine what features you want (i.e., how much you want to spend)
4. Contemplate the miriad of choices while consuming beer
5. Develop a list of specific questions about the hardware and programmer YOU have chosen
6. Call the 'chosen' one and ask
7. Pull the trigger______

MGDfan that is hilarious! Got my laugh for the morning!
Gatorboy, listen to 88Racing, he hasn't been drinking...as much. There is no universal answer because everyone is looking for different options and capabilities.
