Edge Evolution

Ok, so im new to this forum, so cut me a bit of a break, i looked a little around but i still have a few big questions.

I've owned an evo programmer before, but got rid of it when i sold my truck.. little did i know that a few short years later, i would own the same year truck, so i just recently bought the programmer from a guy for 80 bucks and had to have it shipped to edge to be flashed for 75 bucks, so over all i still feel i got a hell of a deal. So heres my question to you all.

Let me first start off by telling you what im looking for out of this programmer.
I basically looking for the max performance with out sacrificing and of my mpg.
So with that in mind, what performance setting should i start with 1 or 2? im not listing 3 as an option because i dont want to pay more for the required 93 oct.

On top of that what would be my best setting for the custom settings part (i obviously know the tire size and pressure settings) ie gear ratio, shift firmness and points rev limit ect.

My truck is an 06 5.4 liter everything stock, only mods are airaid cold air intake, airaid throttle body spacer, and flowmaster 10 series exhaust.

Like i said im new so please be nice. Im a smart person so if thing are explained, or if i get simple instructions i should be able to understand no problem. Thank you

I'd send it to PHP for a Gryphon conversion and custom tunes.

You might want to do a search on 'cold' air intakes and the stock 3V 5.4. CAI make the 5.4 run lean. IMHO get the custom tunes OR take the CAI off until you are ready to get custom tunes. Also you could check out the 'gotts mod'. I too had an airaid CAI and removed it in favour of the gotts mod

The Edge tunes are for a stock intake. Running them with a CAI, you run a slight risk of running lean without a custom tune, plus you get very little benefit from it without a custom tune. What other mod are you considering before getting a custom tune?

Also, take off the TBS, it does nothing for a fuel injected engine.

I would get custom tunes now and then have them rewritten for the later mods, as that may be awhile down the road.

wo wo, calm down, you asked for advise and your getting it. Honestly, the extra time and a little more money would be well worth it to avoid running it lean and screwing something up. But then again its your truck.

That's the price to pay for saving money and buying used stuff instead of ordering the right tool to begin with.

I tried level 2 and I got about 1 mpg better than when I ran stock. I'm now on level 3 and getting about 1.5 mpgs better than I did on level 2. I'd say the difference in level 2 and 3 as far as gas price will be a wash.
