I,d tend to agree with Roush9799 as far as the difference in milage between level 2 and 3. Gas has been going up again lately. Level 3 can be a little bit much for around town driving . I find it will look for that downshift a little sooner than on 2. Sometimes when you arn't wanting the exhaust note to awaken everyone in the vicinity. I've returned to level 2 recently because of the rising costs of fuel and money not comming in as it used to. As far as upgrading the unit. I plan on sending mine out as a Christmas gift to myself. Timing is right because I will be taking of my 22" wheels for the winter, and returning to a more stock tire /wheel size for the winter months. I will miss it , but good things come to those who wait.

You should've sent it off to PHP to be converted when you first got it back.......

BTW any of these tunes weather custom or canned is a crap shoot on getting good mpgs. I seen them go both ways.

When I ran Edge tunes, I got the same mpg with level 2 as I did the stock tune. On level 3, I with 93 octane, I got enough better mpg to pay for the difference in cost, so I ran level 3 all the time. I much preferred level 3 over level 2.

When I was running level 3 all the time on 93 octain with a little more timing in it, I found I'd get better Highway milage at 80-85 mph than at 65 mph. I believe it was because the RPM I was running at. with the 3:55 gears.

I too have 3.55s and it would definitely run happy at about 80. That is why I disliked level 2. Had no stamina at all after about 2000 rpms and I needed passing ability on two lane highways.

Level 2 is a low end torque towing tune, isn't it?

I had one in my 2006, and my trans went out twice within 5000 miles of each other. so becareful with it. and if it does happen unprogram it and take it out of your truck then give it to the dealer. My buddys 2004 f150 did the same thing when he bought his edge.

Yes , towing and plowing. Thats why I believe its a good tune for around town type driving with occasional highway. When I know I'm going to be frequenting the highways I prefer the level 3 tune. Its too bad it isnt tune on the fly capable.

Your tranny went out twice with it? I was thinking about getting one to help with my 35's, that's not a good omen.

I can't help but think it was the combination of 37" tires, a programmer and you trying to "drive it like you stole it", that caused the transmission failures.

You've got an engine that you're goosing to achieve maximum torque output and great big enormous feet that are supplying a "counter torque", and guess what's in the middle that has to balance these two opposing forces?
