Edge Evo vs SCT SF3

Just wondering what canned tunes are better? Display isn't a have to have. Which is just more reliable? Better support? Sorry if there is another thread like this, already searched just couldn't find my answers.

THANKS

Hey.

-Stock canned I doubt you will notice any difference in a blind 'taste test'

-Both are internet updateable.
-Both appear equally 'reliable' - caveat here is they are only as reliable as the end-user's common sense - you can 'brick' yer PCM with either one by acts of 'Doofusism'
-SCT supports many more different Ford vehicles
-Both can be host custom tunes as an option
-If you go custom, many more SCT dealers - whereas there is only one PHP
-SCT devices have far better datalogging capability and end-user data tools that an Edge Evo

-IMHO SCT support is superior (gleaned from the many posts on here)

The primary reason those that go with the Edge or the Gryphon is for the gauges. That is the most significant difference to me. I love the gauges.

Will the edge display dim during the night? The reason I am asking is I really am bothered by any bright lights while driving during the night.

It's not obnoxiously bright, but I guess that depends on how sensitive you are.

If you're going with the Edge, do yourself a favour and buy the Gryphon from PHP. The canned tunes are better and you have the option of a custom tune down the road that can all be done online. If you get the Edge, you'll have to send it in and be without for a length of time to get upgraded to the Gryphon custom tunes, and trust me...the custom tunes are soooo worth it, even for a relatively stock truck.

Yes, there is an easy adjustment to change the brighness from very dim to very bright. You can also change colors. Works for the Edge and the Gryphon as they are the same hardware.

I can purty much guarantee that there is absolutely NO glare from an Xcal3

Another option to use in conjunction with an Xcal3 if you so choose:

Good luck!

And, to add to the "brightness" concern, the new CS/CTS units have an auto dimming feature that dims the display whenever it senses the ambient lighting has dropped off (like at night). To my eyes, it seems to be about perfect at the stock setting, but you can make further adjustments to suit your taste.
