Just to point out one small fact, Mike does more than just write custom tunes for people who request them over the internet. Because he is so respected, I'm sure he does a lot of live tuning (which takes a lot of time) and, as you can see, he has a thriving business that has to take a good deal of hands-on attention to keep running smoothly.

I'm not trying to make excuses here and I agree, he COULD be more "upfront" about the wait times, but I suspect it is what it is for those other reasons.

Nothing I'm saying here is meant to detract from AZ Mr. Bill's thoughtful post.

Most of us know he does all that work and does "GREAT" work. But regardless it should never take 7-11 months to do a custom tune! This is NOT good customer service at all and anyone waiting that long for tunes should get them for FREE if they still have there truck in that amount of waiting time. Especially when you call them 3+ times and keep saying 3-4 more weeks. Thats just sad. Now if you live close by and can drive over to his shop your good to go! hehehe

I guess thats one advantage to owning a diesel. The longest I've waited was 1 week, and the shortest I've waited was about 2mins.
And I really doubt he's not using base files to tune these trucks. It wouldn't make any sense why he wouldn't.

Back in 2007 when I bought my first truck I heard the name mike t over and over about how great his tunes are. I also recall people complaining about the wait times for their custom tunes. Here we are three years later and things have not improved, actually they have gotten worse.. I recall folks also complaining about his fan switches going bad..

Look I do not know the man or have done business with him but because of this type of feedback about his customer service, I will never consider doing business with him period..

Chipper take your money and run..There are other tuners that can meet you needs without the inconvenience you are going through...

Sorry for the late update fellas. As of June 11th I FINALLY received my custom tunes. Now I gotta get on the ball and install my e-fans and pulley before I can download the tunes.

Install the tunes and enjoy. The tune is not dependent on e-fans or your underdrive pulleys.

Not a flame so please don't take it as one.
I don't know how long you have had he pullies and fans, but if you had a 7 month wait, you should have had them on already !
However, like others have stated, the tunes can be installed now, no need to wait until you put the other goodies on. PUT THEM IN !!!

I'm going on a year + + + with another vendor... By the time I get my tunes I bet I won't even own the truck.

You cannot post that in this thread. This is a bash Troyer only thread. Make your own thread.

To all... sorry for the slight derail, but I figured I'd just quickly address this here. Please forgive my intrusion. If it will make y'all feel any better, I could make up something nasty to say about Mike. Anyway...

Chris,

While I'll be the first to admit that for some strange reason your truck has had issues with our tunes, it's not like you have been waiting with no response for a year. I think that's a bit unfair.

As to your tunes, on 2/21 I had e-mailed you about an issue I'd found with calibration files. The files were rebuilt, placed on the server, and have been available for download since then. I did check the download logs and do not see where you've downloaded anything since 2/14, so at this point I can only assume that you did not receive your notification. I guess posting in the forum may have been a better way to notify you but with everything going on the last few months, I just haven't been able to get on the forums.

We now return you back to your regularly scheduled rant.

Take care.

I hear ya Marc. I'm not exactly mechanically inclined enough to install the fans and pullies myself so I put them on the back burner as a project for a buddy of mine and myself to tackle together. He's a Ford mechanic.
Thanks to everyone on the info about the tunes though. I had no idea I could install them now. I thought I had to have all the mods done before the tunes because I thought that's what he built the tunes around. Good deal!!!! I'll do it now!
