I think it's funny that all of my diesel buddies with high powered trucks with little stock parts (we're talking drag and sled pulling trucks here) only have to wait a few days for tunes, yet an F-150 with an exhaust and intake (super custom ) takes 7 months...

Well it took me a while to figure out what software to download on to my laptop and how to get the tunes loaded from there and then on to my tuner. Even with the instructions it wasn't all that clear. But I got all three tunes loaded on the tuner and loaded the 91 performance on to my truck last night. Went for a drive and ........ not really impressed. Honestly, maybe there's a difference on paper if I dyno'd it before and after but seat of the pants, not really that much. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting it to turn into a Lightning with a custom tune but I guess I had my hopes a little too high. Hopefully I'll notice a bigger difference once the e-fans and pully is on. With that extra load off the engine I'm hoping for better response and power.

That is very surprising. When I loaded Edge tunes, my truck was like a different vehicle. I can't stand to drive it on the stock tune now.

Just a side note from my side since you got yours Chipper...... I'm still waiting on mine. Spoke with that new guy or some guy I've never spoke to at Troyer before who said Crystal "Is no longer with us"...... not sure if he meant she died or if he meant fire/quit. Anyway, he said he would let "The Tuner, Mike" know that I've been waiting for over 1 year now. I haven't heard anything from Mike but am thinking its been a week since that call, maybe I should do a follow up and ask to talk with Mike himself.

Sorry to hear that you weren't impressed. Although you can load the into your truck without all of those mods, I don't think its going to have the profound effect you were looking for until you put the E-fan and pulley on since his tune was tailored to that setup. If you put them on and then flash it out... drive it for about a week. You'll notice a difference from the new hardware alone, quite a bit of difference. Then try going back to stock for a day or so and see if you feel a good loss in power.

Guys, efans make no difference to the tune. He should have felt a very noticable 25 to 30 HP and a nice torque increase. Just the shifting alone should have made a huge difference.

Glenn is the new guy that took Crystals place. He actually got things done. If you stay on him, he'll get you your tunes. He stayed in contact with me and kept me updated on where Mike was.
I actually am thinking about running the rest of the 91 octane I have in the truck out, filling it up with 87, returning it to stock and driving it for a week or so like that. Then filling up again with 91, and loading the custom 91 tunes again to see if I can feel the difference. We shall see! I mainly just need to get those damn e-fans and pully on.

Sometimes old fuel strategies are still left in the pcm.
To totally clear the pcm put it back to stock programming. Then disconnect the battery for an hour with your lights on. Then turn your lights off and hook the battery back up. Load your desired tune and see if you feel the difference. It may take a week for the pcm to do some relearning depending on how much you drive.

Just a thought.

Ya, was going to say... you want to give your truck a chance to get through the crappy fuel and get used to everything. If a weeks worth of driving still doesn't improve it, then let them know something is up. Also... try using your other tunes, your 87 Perf or whatever..... do they have any noticeable difference? If the others do and that one 91 oct does not, you might have a stock tune or something labeled as 91 or its corrupt.

Yea, Glenn I believe was there since I turned in my worksheets a year ago. Crystal recently left within the last month. The guy I spoke with didn't sound like Glenn, hmmm.

Thing is I was told there were 2 or 3 people in front of me... you were one of them obviously hehehe. Funny thing is I've been waiting longer, odd how that happened huh? Its almost like they don't think that all of the guys from the forums are going to discuss this stuff.

I forgot to add in that loading the tune with the corrisponding octane of gas.

Some other little maintenance issues you can try or should do.

Replace fuel filter every 15k miles.
At the same time clean the MAF and throttle body.

Hope this info helps you out.

I hate to rain on your parade, but when I put my Edge on my F-150 (4.6), I noticed the power increase right away........

X3 (since BJ already posted something similar). I can't stand to drive mine stock either. I only run the #2 tow tune with the Edge, too. And not the 93 tune.
