Gryphon CTS

I just sold my '93 Lightning . Needless to say I now has some cash that's crying to be spent. I currently have a stock 99 f150 Lariat 4x4 that I want to mod. I'll be getting new tires and wheels soon, as well as new exhaust. I also am very interested in purchasing the Edge CTS for my truck, but would rather purchase one that I could get custom tunes for down the road when needed. Can I even get a gryphon for my 99 model?? If not, would upgrading my stock exhaust cause any issues when using the Edge CTS?

Thanks,
Joey

You can certainly get a PHP custom tuned CTS for your 99 truck. I think you might find most of the answers you need here: www.phptune.com

Exhaust mods generally don't cause issues at all unless you install long tube headers or "X" or "H" pipe mods, those would need adjustments to any custom tunes.

Thanks..

I'm not really sure that I would need the custom tunes then, since the only mod I'm interested in right now it the exhaust, although I had also thought about upgrading the air-intake. Would that require custom tunes?

I really don't see myself making any significant changes down the road, so I'm not sure if the gryphon would be worth the xtra money for me. Is there any benefits to going with the gryphon when the truck is close to stock??

I think there is. Please read this: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...unes-read.html

As far as intakes go, I think you can save a lot of money and get essentially the same benefit by doing the "Gott's" Mod: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...04-2008-a.html

The problem with commercial intakes is that some of them tend to make a loud "droning" sound on a "tuned" vehicle. To correct this,, Bill Cohron puts the camshaft timing profile back to stock for CAIs so they don't drone, but this induces a performance loss.

The Gott's style intake does not drone and it doesn't require anything special in the way of tunes.

^^ agree. Right now, they are basically the same price, so I couldnt think of a reason not to get the gryphon
