custom tunes???

Ok let me start off by saying I have never said I was smart I just surrond myself with smart people..

That being said I am thinking about going to Brenspeed first of next week to get a tuner but I am reading through here and I hear about custome tunes this and custome tunes that..

Can someone please explain to me what Custome Tunes are. Please no bashing but I have just recently been wanting to put power to my 06 F150 Lariat since I bought it off lease.

What should I be looking for and what questions should I be asking? I want power and towing capabilities to be increased. Thats all. I bought the truck knowing I wasn't going to get fuel milage so why worry about it know.

Thank you.

Hello & Welcome!

Job#1: Read Stickies: ==> https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...unes-read.html

If that doesn't do it, post up any remaining questions, or simply search/browse the (Chips&Programming) forum. It's all here

Some good custom tuning shops:

www.troyerperformance.com
www.gopowerhungry.com
www.vmptuning.com

Good luck sir!

Great questions, ccfire!

In addition to MGDfan's excellent advice, what kind of loads are you towing? Do you have the factory tow package on your truck? Custom tunes will help in this area, but proper gearing, wheel/tire sizes, and transmission cooling are probably more important.

yes i do have the factory towing. I have 3.55 gears with the transmission cooler. I am running 17"destination AT's. I have really noticed the difference since I bought and have been pulling a 20' pontoon. I mean it pulls it but it sure doesn't seem to have any power doing so.

That is where I want the power. I don't have to have it just running around town. I am no longer young and dumb and have to race stoplight to stoplight anymore. Ah the good ol'e days.
