edge evo

my new tires will be here wednesday. they are 2 inches taller than what i have now. im considering and edge evo to correct the speedo and for a little milage,o yea and some more power is always welcome

i found them for $350 which seems to be the cheapest. those who have one have you noticed any milage increase?

and the pod i cant find any color choices, i want it to match? what colors are out there?

for now im looking at just a plain evo but wouldnt mind upgradin to the gryhon later for some custom tunes

thanks aaron

So going with bigger tires?
Don't think the edge is going to help with mpg increases.
Not unless a gear change is done but the extra mass added to the wheels still doesn't help.

97-03 pod color is black
04-08 pod color is grey/flint
They are paintable.

thanks
the new tires are 275/65R18. a gear change is way outta the budget. if it doesnt help the milage any its gonna be tough get then.

From your original post your tire size selection sounded more drastic. That's why its important to give up as much info as possible when you try to describe your situation.
That tire size increase that you are doing won't warrant new gears. An edge will help with power but I can't say as far as mpgs because every truck is different and so are their drivers.

X2! Your new tires are essentially equivalent to reducing your gearing by one step.

Custom tunes will probably help make up for the loss of "power" you're going to feel coming off a stop, and, they should improve your mileage some. The actual effect on mileage, by the new tires though is more complicated.

What kind of driving do you do? I suspect if you mostly do highway cruise type driving, the gas mileage may increase. This is because the cruise RPMs will be 3-400 RPMs lower than with your old tires, which means less gas is being used per mile.

But, if you encounter a power demand situation, like a hill climb, you're going to find the torque converter is going to unlock quicker than before, which will put your RPMs higher than before.

And, if your driving is mostly stop and go, your mileage will probably go down too, because the engine is going to work harder to get you up to speed and you're going to be spending more time in the lower gear ranges with the TC unlocked.

You should see a mpg increase, or at least keep it the same. What is your fuel mileage right now?
