edge tuner questions

so i just put my edge tuner on my truck and WOW!! definitely didnt think it would make that much of a difference. anyways.... ive been doin some research and noticed some people are having issues with their trannys after they install it and had it on for a while. NOTE: im not saying this is why there trannys have messed up im just quoting what ive read. i just wanna be cautious cause i cant afford something to mess up.. let me know if anyone has had trouble or if these people are full of it. thanks

I have run the Edge 31,000 miles and then custom tunes on the Edge for another 35,000. No problems

Just because someone with an Edge has a problem does not mean the Edge caused it.

ok thanks for the input. ive just found a post similar to mine and bill explained it all! one other question... i know this is common on a 6.0 diesel but will the extra power form the edge cause the water pump to spin so fast that it blows a head gasket from the additional "force" or "power" gained from the water pump spinning up quicker?? just curious. thanks again for any input

Never heard of that problem on a gas engine. Sometimes the belt will chirp(slip) during a hard shift

are you saying that the chirp is from a belt and not the tranny slipping thats what it sounds like. all i have right now is the k&n and i get a chirp from first to second under full throttle. that would sure put my mind to rest before i get the edge SOON.2006 XLT 4X4

The chirp IS probably the belt. I know it sounds like a tranny sound, since it comes right at the upshift. With an Edge, since the upshift completes quicker, you'll probably get a worse "chirp".

Scared me too, first time I heard it.

If you want to, but I don't think the chirp means anything is getting hurt.

I have the edge as well. I have only had it on for about 1,000 miles, but I love the extra power, better shift points, low end gain for pulling and especially like the custom pod and guage. My truck had 110,000 miles on it when I installed it and can not say enough about it. I have not noticed the chirp but don't push mine real hard - not yet anyway, lol! Good luck with yours. I have already had an encounter with the customer service and it was very good, they even sent me some stickers.

Change belt with only 54K miles?

I'll check the condition of the belt (cracks, wear, etc), my Bud says change belt at 100K. Is the 'gatorbelt' a better replacement?

Hey I got an edge tuner I like it I havent done much with the custom tunes other then just used the three that edge has programed. I think that its maybe possible to damage your tranny if you do a custom tune that is too radical and you dont keep your transmission fluid changed every 30000 miles.
