The gatorback belt is supposed to be less prone to slippage. It certainly won't hurt to use one, I just wouldn't bother changing the belt unless the slippage annoys you or gets worse.

While it is quite possible that a tuner can create a custom tune that can damage your transmission, none of the "good" ones we talk about on this forum will. The canned tunes in an Edge or X3 are very conservative and won't damage your transmission either.

You CAN optionally change some things yourself with a programmer, such as setting the MAX RPM and WOT shift points way too high, and, you can drive your truck like a rail all the time and I guarantee you will shorten the life of your transmission. Changing the fluid isn't going to help much if you treat your truck badly.
