Improved mpgs while towing with gryphon?

I am going to be buying the gryphon for towing mostly and was wondering if anyone has experienced an increase in mpgs while towing? I am towing between 4500 -5000lbs. I was thinking about getting the 87 tow, 87 perf and 93 perf tunes.

After all the researching I have done for my choice of tuner, I am going with the X3 from Troyer. It seems he has given a slightly higher mpg increase while towing. I am looking for the mpg and towing exclusively in a tuner, and also the majority seemed to have given the Troyer setup a smoother yet more progressive towing tune. But,, this is what I have decided on after reading for 3 months! Good luck. Oh, I tow a 19.5 Stratos Javelin w/175, approx 3300lbs with XLT 08, 5.4, 3.73. Hope this helps a little.

My towing mpg's improved about 2 mpg with the Gryphon and a custom towing tune. I don't pull anything as heavy as you do though. My trailer is about 3600# and is low-profile in the towing configuration for less wind resistance.

My mileage towing has increased by about 2mpg too on flat surfaces, on hills its the same. I don't tow more than 2500 lbs though usually, this weekend I am taking 4500lbs for a 2 hr trip, we'll see how that goes

Thanks guys, anything is better than 11 or 12 and if I could get that up to 13 or maybe 14 that would be awsome.

Last summer I got 16-17 in town with my truck but it was all stock with a tonnou cover, since then I took the cover off and lifted it and also put on some taller tires.

I'm getting ready to do gotts mod, hopefully that will help some.

Anyone have any experience with all of the 3 octance tow tunes? My first impulse was to get the 87 tow, but if the 89 or 93 tow tunes are really worth the extra cost of gas and make up for it in performance and power then they should cancel each other out.

Maybe groovy chick could chime in and tell me the hp/tq gains and benifits of the three over stock.

Too bad you can't try all of the custom tunes for your truck and see which ones you like before making a purchase. That would be sweet!

Yah, but if it's not a HUGE difference then I couldn't see getting the 93 over the others, but thats why I was askin'.

look at this way-you'd rather have a 5.4 to tow 5klbs with than a 4.6,you'd rather have a 93 octane tow tune than a 87 octane tow tune- the difference IS QUITE NOTICEABLE-

Maybe it would be better for me since I tow at least 5 days a week to have the 87 and 93 tow tunes and an 87 per when I'm not hooked up to the trailer.

Hey openclass, what class are you running in with your crfs? It's nice to see a fellow ford man and Honda man!

Those may be your best choices. I have the 87 Perf and 93 Perf, and I run the 87 almost exclusively. It is better than the level 3 canned tune, in my opinion and that is all I really need.

Actually a couple of years ago back when my 4wheeler was new and stock I check mpgs while doing some trail riding and I got right at 30 mpgs. Since then I modded the motor and exhaust and it gets mid to upper 20's, and that's running it almost at its 10k redline occasionally.

Man, I need to make that thing street legal.
