Does he have a number or do i have to fill out the sheet on his web page?
Thanks Thumper.
I'm just going to add this to the mix. Do you really want to base your decision on the opinions of a few (possibly prejudiced) guys you've never met? Why don't you do it like a successful business, talk to the major players and get bids? Find out what they can offer you and get a "feel" for their product, and their support after you've bought it. Remember, it won't be a good buy if you can't get help when you need it.

Sure, we all have our favorites. But what suits us may not be right for you! You're in charge here, do it the smart way!

i talked to bil today for the first time and i was so conviced by the guy that i just absolutely had to send out my edge to him within hours for him to custom tune my edge. however, i asked for him to send back my edge casing due to california carb rules. edge will get the carb sticker for their unit, so i can display it when it comes out. and if the case isn't edge, i don't think i could legally have it. so i requested to have my case returned to me so i can behind scene put back the old casing. of course let bill do his thing with it.

due to my underpaid military salary, i only requested the 87 performance tune for now but will aquire his other tunes via email.

i hope i like it cuz i liked the edge but i hated the idea of having to use higher octane fuel. and hell, there isn't even anything higher than 91 octane here besides race fuel of 100 octane which is 5.00. the stage 2 on the edge was really nice in city driving but i think it used more fuel than stock. level three just requires too much octane requirements however i did see a MPG increas on a few trips and saw as high as 18.1 at 70mph on a screw with 20's and 3.55 gears. other than that, i don't like the daily driving of it using higher octane.

i hope the 87 tune rocks.

Hey Jack,

I have a edge and love it. I also have Troyer custom tuning which i like also, except for the way it shifts from 1st to 2nd. Plus i find his tune is hard on gas compaired to the edge.
With the price of gas going the way it is im just looking for something different to test. thats all.

Gas just hit $1.17 per liter here today!Damn. I think i may run my edge for the fuel saving. Well im going to test my remarks and see if the edge gets better milage at least thats how i rememmber it when i was running it and then went to Troyers tunes. Im going to run a tank or two with the edge and see what i get.
With Troyer tunes 87 perf i was getting about 15 mpg according to the edge. So using the edge again to track fuel usage im going to run it on level 2 and see what i get!

I noticed something similiar. I had gotten my 4.10 gears and kept track of my mileage and highway I was getting low 17 mpg with my Edge on level 3. Then I added Troyer perf. tunes and an AF1 3.5" and my mileage dropped to high 15's on the highway.

Why would there be such a signifcant drop in mileage? If anything I thought it would have gone up but I've been keeping track of every tank for the last 6 months and I can't get better than 15.8 on the highway. And I'm talking about cruising at 80-82 when I say highway. 2450-2480 rpm's. There is more power out of Troyers that is for sure.

JeremyGSU you're close enough for a dyno tune.

Justin does have a phone number on his website but he'll still want you to fill out the information online and place the order there. If you want to talk to him, he'll talk to you but you'll just need to fill out the order sheet online. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I just sent him a email asking him all about his tune and telling him what i have right now. PS. I also mentioned you in my email saying that you highly recommend him.
The section where it asks you about fuel economy. Which one is best to go with? Normal, Moderate econ, or agressive econ? It also does not say what type of tune your getting! Towing, perf etc.

FiLiPiNo,

You know, as buried as I am right now I feel I need to address this immediately.

Not only is what you are considering doing a serious violation of CARB and EPA guidelines (basically amounting to fraud) but it could seriously jeopardize Edge's CARB certification as well. I guess I really should have thought about it more before agreeing to return your case. With that said, I will not be able to return your case following an update. If you want to get your CARB EO sticker from Edge and put that on your unit, you are free to do what you want and I can't stop you. I know you already shipped you unit off, and if this changes your mind on getting the custom tuning then I will certainly be happy to return your unit back to you and cover the shipping.

So there is no confusion, my agreement stipulates that I am required to change the case and firmware to make our units visibly different from the Evolution and the reason for this is the fact that custom tuned programmers are NOT CARB CERTIFIED and we need to show a significant difference. So changing the case back to the old black/silver one in an effort to avoid getting hassled by California's finest is obviously a no-no.

I will make it clear right now, I will not return any original cases. It's not worth $50.00 or $100.00 to lose my business. I'm sorry if this upsets anyone but that's how it is going to have to be. If you want to run EPA/CARB legal in California, buy a regular Evolution (which we can still sell if that's what you need) and don't modify the vehicle (ie. don't run a CAI Kit).

Again, I apologize if this upsets or disappoints anyone but I hope you can appreciate where I am coming from on this.

Just as a side note... I find it interesting that people will come on a public forum and announce their intention of doing something fraudulent or even illegal. Removing catalytic converters (and DPF's on the new diesels), disabling EGR valves and O2 sensors, and even considering circumventing CARB regulations. If the EPA really wanted to be a pain, they could come after you the same way that ASCAP, the RIAA and the FBI went after all the Napster downloaders.

Not that I necessarily condone (or disagree with) such activities, but use your head people. I know it seems stupid and harmless, but the EPA is really cracking down on the aftermarket industry and it's comments like those that make it difficult for manufacturers and retailers to get any sympathy from the EPA. If it keeps up, the aftermarket performance industry will suffer or even disappear altogether.

Take care.

I mean no disrespect to Troyer, but according to the CARB database...

(http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php - Search by Manufacturer, select "Electronic Control Unit / Proms", the click Search for EOs)

...there is no listing of a CARB EO# for either Troyer Performance, SCT, or Superchips Custom Tuning which I take to mean that none of their programmers (custom or otherwise) are CARB certified. However, if their products are CARB certified and have a valid EO#, then I will certainly admit I am incorrect, but I don't think I am.

I have dealt with CARB since 1996 and as it sits now, Custom Tuning by nature is not able to be CARB certified. If it was, I'd probably still be programming Evolutions instead of selling Gryphons.

Again, this is not a shot against Troyer, whom I certanily respect, and I am certain his tunes are "da'bomb". I just want to make sure that there is no confusion or misinformation floating about.

Take care

I'd have to pull my paperwork but I'm fairly sure Mike states his tunes are NOT CARB certified.
