Bill, if you're still around in this thread...
I notice while looking at this new "Gryphon" tuner (I have the Edge Evo and had since late '05) that there's only a list of 8 monitors as opposed to the Evo's 21 or 22 that they're at now. Was that just an abbreviated list or is that all there is in this new tuner? Granted there are some in the Evo's list that I'll never use but they do have some I do use all the time that aren't in your list.

Regardless who is doing the tuning, custom tuning cannot be CARB Certified. End of story.

If you would, please, go into DIAGNOSTICS from the MAIN MENU. Then select VERSION INFO. Let me know what version you have and we'll see what we can do to get you an updated unit that would have expanded functions.

Thanks,
She says:
Bootloader V1.00a
Product E3.20.24

By the way, so I'm not hijacking this thread too badly. Bill and his people (including wife) all the way.

That's the old hardware which sadly doesn't have much hope for improvement. However, give me a shout and I'll work something out for you to get you on the new platform.

Take care.

I am "his people" but thank you!

We are considering hiring someone within the next few months to help out a bit. There's only so many hours in the day and so much that we two can do -- even working 12-14 hour days! -- and we definitely don't want to let any of our friends/customers down. God (and all of YOU) has/have been very good to us lately.

Oh, you're his only people?

You should hire me, maybe that way I can afford to upgrade.

With the price of fuel, the commute'd kill ya.

And yes, sadly, I'm his only "people." If there were more of us, Bill wouldn't be so backed up! Unfortunately, he is the only one who can do the calibrations -- each set of three calibrations usually takes about 2 hours. But, at the same time, he's also working on several other projects including writing software and firmware and working on hardware. In addition to THAT, you'd be amazed how many people contact him to work on independent projects for them because they've known him for a long time, and he's the guy that can do what they want.

(Did he ever mention on here that he recently tuned a truck that will be in the new Fast and the Furious 4? BTW, it's a big, black F250 with flames on it, and Wil (our 8-year old was THRILLED to sit in it for a picture!)

He ALSO does subcontracting for Edge and Panoz, as well as some other companies. Now, add all that in to the pot with the fact that he probably spends, literally, at least 8 hours on the phone each day handling phone calls that I can't answer. Not done yet! He also receives 20-30 emails per day. I'm not including the forums, which I've been trying to help with lately. When I come across something I can't answer, but would like to, he dictates while I type.

Now, with that in mind, can you imagine how backed up we became when he had the flu and then we were out of town for a week for a funeral?!?

I'm very proud to be married to such an intelligent man who can do so many things, but there's simply not enough hours in the day lately. Luckily, he can go for almost a week on about 3 hours of sleep per night before crashing hard.

Now you can see why we alway thank our customers for being so patient with us. We always try as hard as we can!

I can take orders remotely ...but that's about it. Probably not much help.

Bill sure is some kind of crazy but I commend him. All that and never sacrifices quality or customer service.
I thought full time school and part time work was too much. :o

As Bill mentioned, custom tuning is not carb certifiable by its very nature. I am working on some ways to make it certifiable, as it has been done in other industries.

When you order a tune off my website you can specify if you want a towing, performance, mileage, or any combination of those tunes. You just have to type it into the box.

Regarding the question about economy, I can make no special changes, I can make moderate changes that will be seamless to most users, or I can make aggressive changes to maximize economy while cruising (there may be a slight loss of part throttle power), however, none of the economy tunes reduce WOT power. Economy tunes can be made for any octane fuel.

I want to say about 3 mpg is a good, safe, estimate. I usually get 20.5 mpg in my Mustang on VMP's 93 octane performance tune. I can get up to 26 mpg driving slowly on their 93 octane mpg tune.

might not be BS

My 2000 GT with Basani X-Pipe and u/d pullies, but no tunes would get 15-20 mixed use depending on how heavy your foot was but I would get 26 on the freeway at 80 mph.
