HAHAHAHA

Nice work JD790. Thank you for trying that out.
He just tried something you said to do and proved you wrong. I think you should stop before you dig yourself deeper.

If this is true why does the Edge have OSS and TSS as PID's????

You have to watch out when you do things like that. If you're too convincing, people will believe you. My Wife's so good at this kind of thing, she fools me all the time.

Yea I guess so, but there is someone absent who has alot of aplogizing to do I believe, that is if his "arrogance" doesn't get in the way!

Nowhere to be found now......

Back to the original thread subject...... I updated my Edge last night to Version 28, and I think it might have helped. I entered 2600 for tires and it seems to be closer. Next, I will try entering a shorter tire and see what happens.

I first will drive next to a friends car to see how close it is now, before I change the tire size again.

I don't really see it as a hijack - you were just trying to explain how things worked.

But, I'm bothered by the fact that the "correct" settings are not producing "close" results for MPH and miles driven. They should! Mine does.

On a related note, Groovy Chick (Bill's wife, aka Corey) said that on their website (PowerHungryPerformance) there is now a "calculator" for pretty much any tire size made. This thing also applies the 3% squish factor that I use that seems to be pretty much dead on.

Bill and Corey are out of town for a funeral right now, so they won't be able to take questions till next week.

Street2385, when you "load previous settings" in the level you are trying to "customize", does the axle ratio and tire size come up the way you set it? It should (but the tire size always seems to "creep" 2-3mm up for some reason. Bill explained it once. It had to do with the software doing a bit of "rounding", possibly to arrive at a "revolutions per mile" figure that maybe had to be an integer. I'm just guessing here, but I used to teach computer programming and know how this could be the case).

Maybe I asked you the question about loading previous settings before. I'm too lazy to check. :o But, it's the only thing I can think of that will give you results that are way off.

When I load previous settings, they are as I entered them.
I did see other threads here where people had the same problem of the tire sizes and gear ratios holding in the Edge. Mine seems to be holding the setting, cause I do see them there when I load previous settings, but the speedo is still incorrect.

Well, I'm totally stumped. You really need to call Bill when he and Corey get back from her Grandmother's funeral. It would probably help him if you had some "quantitative" figures to present. Since you don't have a GPS (I resisted but finally bought one that is a "factory" drop-in for the f150 - can't resist electronic gadgets) here's what I'd do:

Take your truck out on the interstate where you can find a fairly level stretch for at least 10 miles. Set the speed control at whatever speed you find is "keeping up with traffic" (so you won't have to change it). Note the time as you pass a mile marker. Note the time again as you pass one 10 miles later. Divide the minutes between the two "hacks" by 60 to get hours. Divide that number into 10 (your actual miles driven). That is your "true" MPH. You should also note your odometer as you pass the first marker and again as you go by the second one (I almost said "hit the second one", which you could do if you were doing everything I'm telling you) The odometer figures will give you the error in distance you are recording - it needs to be showing your distance in tenths of a mile. It might help to have an "assistant" to do the recording.

I'd do this both ways to "average out" little variances due to terrain. But that's not really a problem since you have to come home anyway.

Average the two calculations/distance errors. That will be your "true" error. I think Bill needs this to be of any real help to you.

And, I know what I'm suggesting is a pain, but I can't think of anything more helpful. I really DON'T like the idea of "lying" to the Edge to make it work right. Something's obviously wrong if you have to do this.

I last updated my Edge with Lightning...... and still no change, speedo is still wrong and it won't hold the inputs. I called Edge and told them about this, and the guy @ edge said he never has heard of this problem and didn't really have anything to suggest to me.

Just this afternoon, I called back Edge to ask one more time about the problem I am having. This new guy I talked to @ Edge said he has heard of this problem and directed me to update using Fusion and that should solve my problem. He said Lightning no longer gets updated.... Only fusion receives updates. So basically, my edge is not fully up to date until I use Fusion.

I am not sure why one guy knew about this problem and had a quick solution, while the other guy did not.

I will do this tonight and let you know how it works.

^^^^^^^^Sounds like Fusion might be your answer. I bought my Edge used a few weeks ago, and when I received it it would not work with my truck. It came with the Lightning software and I updated everything to the newest and still would not work for my 2007. Went to Edge's website, downloaded the Fusion software - did a whole bunch of updates, and it has worked perfectly fine ever since! Hopefully that does the trick for you. Keep us updated.
