I agree with joshmac4.6....... that is because I changed my gears and nothing else, and now my speedo is off. so what do you have to say about that?

I think you should just give up.

some resorses refer to the rear sensor as a vss. when the rear sensor is unplugged it gets its reading from one of the front wheels as i said earlier. unplug the rear sensor and jack up the rear of your truck and put it in drive. your speedo will not move. period.

yes i have. i also installed 315/75R16 up from the factory 245/75R16s on my last truck which was a 2001 ranger which works off the same principle as the f150. speedo was off 13km/hr. swaped the 4.10s for 4.88s and speedo was still off 13km/hr.

Rangers are diff. than 150's esp. new body style. And if your speedo stayed 13km/hr off, however fast that is, than someting was wrong. And a 315-75 from a 245/75 is a huge change, my truck was off 8mph going from factory 245's to 265's. A gear change will mess up the speedo period, if not, then what is causing all these peoples problems, magic???? Did they get metal stuck the magnet and it's throwing the tone ring's rpm off???? No, it changed the driveshaft speed, but since it doesn't use the OSS where is the problem. Hell it's the edge, I mean it seems like a logical thing to blame it for.

You still don't have an answer of why my speedo is off after a gear change.
Why would I make something like this up????

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, because my truck proves you wrong.

I suggest since you can't help anyone, only argue and provide the wrong facts, that you should stop wasting everyones time.

Yeah, please let us know.......
I am not misinterpreting anything. I changed gears, and that made my speedo wrong. How else could I look at it..... I am not sure how else to break it down so that you can understand that.

you also have 35inch tires. so your speedo is wrong regardless so how can you even tell what is affecting it? you have yet to even say how far off your speedo is. have checked it with a GPS?

My speedo was correct before I changed from 3:73's to 4:56's. (maybe a few miles per hour off)
I had 35's the entire time, so the only thing that changed was my gears, therefore changing my speedo. I have not checked against a GPS, but when i am moving with the flow of traffic on the freeway, it reads around 85-90. I know I am not going that fast..... probably only going about 65-70...... I have check the odometer reading with the navigation on my truck. My nav will say 10 miles to a place, and my odometer will show I traveled farther.

Ok - I did it. After work I went out to the garage - jacked up the back of the truck. Put 2 jackstands on the rear and unplugged the rear diff mounted speed sensor. Went inside the truck, started the truck. The ABS light was on solid. I put it into drive, let off the brake and......the speedometer went right up to 15 mph as the engine idled and the rear tires spun.....and the front tires were not moving. I lightly stepped the gas pedal and got up to 30 mph but that was all I was comfortable with. Turned off truck, plugged in the speed sensor, lowered rear of truck, started back up, ABS light is off and all is good.

So I'm sorry - but I just proved you are wrong.

Are you sure??? Did you cover all the variables???? Because thats funny, I mean since they don't have a OSS that is used for speed any more???? What gives???? You must have done it wrong!!! I'm telling you you're wrong, I know how it works and you don't!!! You are wrong!!!
