As for watching him program it, I am gonna go do that tomorrow sometime because I think that they are giving me the run-around. Plus on a crappier side note, because of my age (22) they are not going to give me a loaner vehicle because "it is the same as trying to rent a vehicle" so I am out of a vehicle until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week!

I LOVE Ford Trucks, but if they keep on doing this to me I may have to go to a Dodge Diesel!

And thanks again Bill you rock
If you think you have problems now wait until you get into a Dodge. How long does it take to get a tranny from the states. Your problem isnt the truck its the guy behind the counter. And stop messing with your truck in -40 degree weather. I would hate to break down and have to walk 5ft in those temps.

LOL I put that Dodge comment in there to see what people would say. Trust me, my old man and I have had tons of problems with Chrysler/Dodge and i would never go there! As for the counter, I talked to the Service Manager today and told him that they should try reflashing the PCM before they put a new one in. He was agreeing with me I will just have to wait and see if they actually do it.

The cold weather is nothing my friend! I was born and raised around it my whole life. Tough skin I suppose, as Bill would call me "a crazy Canuck" I like it sometimes. The sun is up at 7 and it goes down at 3 or 4 depending on what month it is. AND I know I am dumb for doing it!!

Our winters are the same time - the temps. We only get as cold as -5 and thats usually with the wind chill. Thats when my heating bill goes through the roof Hope they reflash your pcm.

Ok so here's the deal on reflashing the PCM...

I talked to the guys at Edge and they assured me that the Evo has been tested stable at the spec'd temp range of -40°C to 125°C (-40°F to 257°F). The surprising thing is that as far as manufacturers spec's are concerned, the service manual for the truck indicates that the PCM "...should not be updated (programmed) below 30 degrees F."

The engineers are looking at a way to prevent the Evolution from attempting to program the PCM in extreme conditions outside of the manufacturer's specifications. This should prevent any further problems.

Let me know how it goes at Ford. I'm curious if updating the PCM with everything warmed up actually fixes everything.

Take care.

Bill

*UPDATE*

I got a call yesterday at 5:15pm MST saying my truck was fixed and ready to be picked up. They installed the new PCM under warranty and everyting is running smooth now. When I get out to pick up my truck, they tell me its going to cost me $40 because they had to cut me a new key, because they couldn't get a hold of me. But I had no missed call or voice mails on either of my two cell phones so that is some BS. They needed both keys to program the new PCM. I said screw it and just paid the $40 to get my truck back. All in all, I had a pretty good experience dealing with this situation at Ford. I also have to give Bill over at Powerhungry mad respect for helping me out in this situation, he personally gave me two phone calls helping me out and also said that if they didn't replace my PCM under warranty that Edge would re reimburse me for the PCM if I sent it in to them. I was going to send the old PCM to them regardless just so they could see what was going on with it, but they said they couldn't give it back. Also, thanks to everyone on here who put their input in! This board rocks!

Glad you're up and running. Sux about the key, but the fact is they need two keys to fix the PATS. Also, be aware that your spare key will no longer work in the truck.

Take care.

I wonder though, since you now have two working keys (one of them being the new one) if you couldn't reprogram the third (original) key and keep it as a true spare? The Service Advisor at the dealership should be able to tell you (for free).

One of the first things I did when I got my truck was to buy a new key and then program it myself (instructions are in the owners manual) so that if I ever lost one, I'd still have two.

Sorry... I should have mentioned that. You can have up to 8 keys programmed... I just didn't want you to jump in the truck with the wrong key before you updated it and find it didn't work!

Take care.

Yeah I am really happy I am back on the road too. I never realized how much I depended on my truck to get me around. The truck was in the garage for, four days and I was lost without it. As for the keys, three should work. I will keep one in a "hidden spot" in case I get locked out, keep one on the ring and give one to my folks. I hope this cold weather clears up soon, I would really like to put my Edge back in. But no more programming chit in -40 weather!

Again thanks for everyones help!
