Look at it this way - absolutely nothing in Life is certain; if ALL you have to worry about is a silly little reflash ( that is, worst-case, gonna result in a waiting period and a few $ to rectify), then you are stylin' !

Seriously - it is not an issue - either do as some others suggest ( tell them not to mess with it) or install a defeat mechanism as explained above.

There are thousands of tuned F150's runnin' around, including me - it's not a show-stopper.

I think I posted this before, but here goes again...lol

I just got my Troyer tuned Xcal 2 last month and a neat little thing that was included with the Xcal package was a "cap" thingy that fits over the OBD II port, RED as can be, and says.. "DO NOT REFLASH - CONSULT OWNER"...

I have the thing on there and if my dealer ever DOES "consult" me I'll tell them I just want to know what the hell exactly are they changing.. I'LL decide if if it's something I need changed.. And judging from what TP's tunes have done for my truck I believe I'll tell 'em, "no thanks.."

I think I may have been fortunate though in the truck / pcm version that I got.. never been any problems, no recalls, never been flashed in several services...

Let's all have mulitple now!!

Thats kinda cool they included that cap. But Im sure the dealer is gonna wonder what the deal is when they see that.

The thing is that my dealer specificly said that they don't like tuners...they dont mind intakes but NO tuners. So if I went in there with something like that Im sure they would know

Naww, you'd return to the stock program before going in to the dealer no matter what... no biggie..

And if they ask about the little cap on the port, or some folks just put a piece of tape over the port that says the same thing.. just say you want to know exactly why they need to flash, what they intend to change by doing so..

My thinking is that unless they're gonna program something to keep you from grenading the crankshaft or otherwise settin' the truck afire then you're better off with your custom tunes.. so just tell 'em, "no thanks".. no need to explain why... "I like how it runs now, take your diddlin' fingers outta my OBD port, thank ya very much.."

Along those lines...

So riddle me this.

Your stock PCM code/tune is stored in the Xcal2, no? Why is it not possible to just put your stock tune back into the truck off your Xcal2 if the dealer did happen to reflash the truck.

What am I missing here?

Ok, so say i have strat file TEJF4P5 in my truck right now. A new update is out: TEJF4P2. The dealer hooks up to IDS, flashes PCM. I now have TEJF4P2 in my truck and TEJF4P5 on the device. I now have a locked flash device because when i try and right back to stock, i can't because the stat. files are not the same. Or if i did write back to stock i would need new tunes because of the same instance.

TEJF4P2=TEJF4P2

TEJF4P5=TEJF4P5

I was told the other day by a Ford Mechanic and a Ford Service Manager that they can tell if you ever have had a tuner or not. I dont know if they were trying to scare me or what?
