normal cruising isnt that bad. but do you do any driving at elevation or towing? towing or even a heavy load in the bed make the thing drone like mad on the highway. but i do a lot of hauling on the highway (firewood, ATVs for hunting etc) and i cant even hear my self think. the awkward shifts happen at elevation when climbing. that doesnt bother me as much as the droning. before i had the edge on it didnt drone, even with flowmasters.

No, I do very little towing, just a utility trailer occasionally. I have a Flowmaster as well, no drone there either. A lot of my driving is highway at 75 to 85 mph. IThere is one point at the top of third before shifting to overdrive, I do get a little drone from the Flowmaster, but it is so short, I don't even think about it.

ya i never had drone from my flows before the edge, even if i was hauling crap. now when i haul it sounds like im driving a freight train. i dunno why it does it. oh well, i think im going to try the custom tune then see which tune i like better. maybe keep the edge for gauges or sell it.

And to the OP im not saying the edge is a bad product, the power gains are awesome i love them. its just hard to predict what the outcome will be, as you can see different trucks will have different results.

EDIT: Bluejay, what lights did you install ontop of your front bumper?? id really like to do the same without getting a bullbar or front rack etc.

It shifts fine, it's just the TQ converter engaging and disengaging constantly (shudder) at freeway speeds that bothers me. Level 2 doesn't do that. But I would like to use level 3, I just can't due to the shudder.

It's funny, I run the same edge custom settings you do, and we have the same Hex code, I am running a different version though, but I went back and loaded the version you run and it still did it. Wierd. I need to just get those Troyer custom tunes and be done with it.

It may still do it.

I know, I've thought about that. I'm thinking Troyer has better support than edge. Edge won't fix the programming issue. I've contacted them many times about it, get the same watered down reply.

The edge changes air mixture and exhaust tone. much more aggressive sounding, I love it.

I may be wrong about this, and go ahead and let the *** kickin' begin if I am, but I believe that the Edge (and other off-the-shelf tuners) is designed to improve performance mainly at WOT, whereas Troyer writes his tunes for performance across the entire powerband.

He takes into account that most of don't drive at WOT all that often and writes in the shift points and firmness accordingly.

I basically ripped that from one of Mike's posts, but it's also what decided me in favor of Troyer's tunes.

Obviously, you have not tried the Edge. It works at all speeds, though some settings are for WOT.

You're right, I haven't. And if Edge hadn't raised their prices right before I started looking into tuners I probably would have went with one. But it seems like now the Xcal with Troyer tunes is about the same price.

Gotta admit, I like the displays on the Edge, wish the Xcal had 'em.

Anyway, I just ordered the thing and have about 8 weeks or more to wait. Ran it totally stock for a year-and-a-half so the wait is no big deal.

Tho I'll probably be jonesin' in about 4 weeks.. LOL
