You will be a week or so behind me
Which tunes did ya go with?
i went 87perf,89perf,93perf ---i am debating switching the 87perf for 93tow or adding the 93tow to my current order. The reason for this is i am hoping the 93tow shifts harder than the 93perf??I like hard shifts

Just prepare yourself to wait those 2+ months it's going to take to get yout tunes in. Don't get frustrated that it's taking so long and in the end your truck will be so much better.

you should have went with the 6600 flip chip and you could of had all 4 on your 2000 and shift on the fly capabilities

I have the 87 tow, 87 performance and the 93 performance. I think I read somewhere on here that the shift firmness will only go so firm untill you by a shift kit for these older trucks. I also wanted a firmer shif and am happy with it over stock. I was told by Troyer to maybe go with the 87 tow instead of the 89 performance because how often do you run 89 octane gas. Good luck and enjoy.

I guess i am just not sure what to expect as far as shift firmness.I used to have the Edge and that gave me the shifts i wanted, not sure if it was good for it but i liked it.I am just wondering if the shifting is firmer on tow mode vs. performance mode???
You are right,i never use 89 octane gas so i guess i should try to switch.

You say you had the edge. Why are you switching? Somethin' wrong w/the edge tuner?

No Kev ... just the opposite. Typically in a tow situation you want a little softer shifting, with a bit more torque management, to help preserve the drivetrain while under a rated tow capacity situation. Slamming hard shifts just are not appropriate while towing.

Perf tunes - different story.

BTW - did you actually specify at order time you wanted really firm shifts in your tow tunes?

Cheers
Bubba

Hey MGD I ended up going 87perf,89perf,93perf.I never really tow so i don't really need a tow tune.I started thinking back on my edge and remembered level2 shifting harder than 3.I guess it's dif with the Xcal2.I just filled in the part to have Mike make the shifting how he normally does.I went all perf tunes.Maybe i will ask Crystal to switch the 89perf for 93tow or just order a extra tow tune.
Thanks again MGD,you answered what i wanted to know
Kevin

Slight delay in ordering tuner

Just thought I'd post an update. Got a call from T.P. and apparently the computer code I gave them is uncommon or outdated or has been changed and they now want to send me the tuner to do a read for the hex code. Don't really want to pay for the tuner if I can't use it for 2 to 2 1/2 months so I'm gonna have my buddy (who is a mech.) do a read for me and get the code. Problem is, he can't do it until next week when he gets updated software for his diagnostics, so I geuss I'll just have to wait which really sucks!!! I don't blame Troyer for this, they just want to get it right which I completely understand and appreciate. Anyway, wanted this to go smoothly (and quickly haha), but I guess I'll have to be a little more patient with the whole process. Dammit!!!
