Xcal2 Lead Time From Troyer

It's just natural when u explain something to one person by the time it gets to the next, and the next person things change and the explanation the final person gets is different even if it's slightly then the original explanation. I've been waiting now for about 2 months to get a working tune from bama chips. I've never gotten to talk to anyone jusnes or bamachips, just emails. I'm not sure if they don't have a phone for the business or not, but that is just poor customer service. I've been waiting now on a email reply for about a month. That's just my 2 cents on it.

His customer service is superb. Now if you choose to go with someone else, my experience with bamachips is poor customer service. I've gotten a tune from them and at 90mph at full wot it didn't want to shift. I've sent them emails after emails with know helpfull out come. As a matter of fact I'm still waiting on a working tune from them.
VMP tuning was the same thing, except Justin at VMP did finally get me a working tune, which was a pleasant driveability tune, but for performance there is a tremendous noticeable difference between his and troyers tune.
BRENSPEED would be my next choice if I couldn't go with troyer. Their customer service is decent and their tunes were exceptionally well. I would rate them better then bama, vmp but not as good as troyer. Brenspeed is noticeable in performance and driveability. It took approximately 5-7 business days to recieve my tunes from brenspeed.
Again I would go with Troyer Performance. After trying other tuners, Troyers tunes totally blew them out of the water. If others had problems with troyers tunes, maybe they should have contacted Mike and explained what was going on. I wasn't happy with my original troyer tunes and found out that there was file corruption with my tunes. After Mike got the tunes corrected they are AWESOME. My vehicle is now where it should be.
The reason I'm speaking of Troyer like he is the KING SHIIIT of tuning is because I have experience first hand what his tunes can do compared to 4-5 other tuners and there is no comparison. VERY NOTICEABLE SEAT OF THE PANTS DIFFERENCE NOT JUST MINOR....
But that's just my opinion I'm sure someone who wasn't happy with troyer will contradict what I post, that's there right, but I have 100% confidence in Mikes tunes and customer service.

Seems like typical "catch & release" marketing to me. Sure, they're more than helpful when they think they can sell you something, but the customer service goes out the door once the sale is done... Not saying that's necessarilly the case with TP; but it's interesting that you mentioned the great customer service while you were "in the hunt for a tuner".

PS: ski you just talked about how much better performance you got with Troyer's tunes compared to VMP's but . . I just looked at your thread. I think you said 241 hp / 290 hp out a stock truck other than exhaust and a K&N drop in. But I'm pulling better numbers than that with stock gears, heavy 37" tires and 20" wheels, a S&B intake, and a crappy Flowmaster true dual exhaust system. . Oh and it was 98 degrees out with a ton of humidity. So I don't think its quite fair to say that Troyer is on a whole different level than other tuners because it simply isn't true.

I have delt with doug at bama chips and he has always been upfront with me and never left me waiting.I was going to try TP but I cant get to mike via email or phone.I think a 2-3 month wait is way to much to ask from any customer unless you are doing a one off tune with datalog and or dyno runs.I would get an edge before I would wait 3 months for TP.If they need that much time to fill an order they may need to find the reason and then locate a solution.

Your not going to start a tuner war, at least not with me. I've tried several and from my personal experience with 6 different tuners Troyers simply out did them. Before I Mike got the file corruption fixed on his tune, I thought Brenspeeds tune was the best. Once Mike fixed the corruption on the tune there is a very noticeable difference between his tunes and all the others I've tried. Better acceleration, better 0-60, shifting firmness, just better all round.
No, I'm putting down 241/301 with a tune, S&B intake, and my crappy Flowmaster True Dual exhaust system. I'm on HEAVY 37" tires and HEAVY 20" wheels with stock 3.73 gears and when I did the dyno run it was 98 degrees out with a ton of Florida humidity. So you're putting down 9 more hp and 10 more ft/tq but you also have lighter wheels and tires, a bigger intake system, probally a better exhaust set-up not to mention you probally didn't have to dyno at 98 degrees.
I'm just saying I don't think Troyers tune has a big advantage of any other tuner like VMP or Bama.
But like I've said plenty of times before. Opinions are like buttholes and everyone's got them. Take it easy man.

Of course if Mike see's this comment, you'll get the lecture on how "email is not an effective way to contact us. We get 1,000,000+ emails a day, and it's impossible to respond to all of them. And of those 1,000,000 about 500,000 get blocked from our server. So you really need to pick up the phone and call us."
I mean, common, in this day and age, I think email should be the PREFERRED way of communicating, especially for something as simple as an order status.

I had my order in on May 5th, and I was told at least a two month wait. I emailed them last week asking if I was getting close, and I was told that my truck is in the top 20. I guess it is hit or miss with the email.

Another die hard. If you dont play nice im gonna go tell my mommy!
I'm with thump on this one. And that is why on friday i will be calling VMP and getting some new tunes. I will compare also once i get her on the dyno. I'm stock with a true dual bullet setup and s&b. So once i get the vmp installed I'll put up some numbers to compare.

Its not about how much power you make its about making *safe* power hell I could make you a tune for a truck but I dont know how long your truck will last. Thats where Mike T at Troyer Performance comes in he has over 15 years doing tunes on F150's I have seen Mike at work it blows my mind ever time I watch him work the man knows his stuff! ..... just my .02
Update 7/4
Well checked my email this morning and received a UPS tracking number. I don't have a clue on what it is for but my credit card has a new transaction for almost $500.00. It sounds like my tunes may be showing up.
I do have a question for you guys. I hear mentioning of going to different vendors (VMP / BAMACHIPS) and trying different tunes. Are you guys just contacting these tuners and repeating the same proccess (WORK SHEETS AND PICKING TUNES) and then loading them on the XCAL 2 that you already own? If so what is the avg $ for just one custom tune? And do you just store all of your custom tunes on your computer?
