Well Mike T. did go up on that custom space shuttle to blow up the asteroid a few years ago.

Sounds like a new Chuck Norris kind of joke.

out here in CA 91 octane is tops so I ordered 87 performance, 87 tow and 91 performance...maybe should have done an 89 performance, 87 tow and 91 performance but doubt 89 would make much difference

I'm sure those tunes you mention are good tunes, but do you get the whole package when you order from them? By that I mean a great tune and great customer service to go along with it? I would think if those tuners were on Mike T's level we'd be hearing just as much about them as we do Mike. I will defer to ski and his post because he's seemed to have run'em all while the only tune I've run is Troyer's and I am completely thrilled with it. I saw no need to go with anything else and sure the wait was long and was frustrating at times, but it's only 2 months. That may seem like a long time, but when you think of how long you're going to own your truck why not go with what it the concensus best tune on the market?

I've spoken to someone at troyer, and was quoted a price and was almost convinced to go through them, but now i might check around to find someone that can deliver within 3-4 weeks. Although I do like to have the best, part of being the best is customer service, and part of that is deliverin a product in a timely manner. 2 month's just does not fall into that category. It's a tune, is it that much different for every truck. I would think that it would be cost effective to save a default tune, and modify it to each customer specifications, not start from scratch on every tune. Is that what they do?
Troyer won't charge you until your tunes are shipped, unless he has to do a strategy. Hope that puts your mind at ease.

the money isn't really a problem, I don't think it's a big deal to charge me now, or two months from now. I was just hoping for a faster response. Actually, after giving it some thought I think I'll still go with TP. 2 months is a long time, but it's not that big of a deal really. The person I spoke with said they'd give me a package including CAI, and XCAL2 and also told me they could send out the cai first, and I could install that, and then the tuner when it's complete. or send me everything minus the tunes, and then email them to me when they are complete and I could just DL them to the tuner. Not sure, but that seems ok to me. I think I'll talk to them again this week.

I was just looking at the Bamachips site, clicked on the F150 link, and they cant even take their own orders. They have to route them through Jusnes. I would never order anything from a company that can't even take their own orders

I wasn't going to get into this, just in fear of starting another tuner war that has been so accustomed in this forum but. VMPTuning's tune is amazing just as their customer support. I won't go into my opinion of why you don't hear about a lot of posts about other tuners because that will probally end up getting this thread locked down. . On another note, it only took two hours to get my truck tuned. .

I'm pretty sure they are just partner companies.

If they send you the CAI first and said you can install it without the XCAL2 till it arrives months down the road Im guesing there going to send you the 3" correct? You can run the 3.5" when you run the XCAL2 but told me you couldnt order the 3.5 unless you bought the XCAL2 from them. Because the 3.5 wouldnt run correctly or have code errors without running the XCAL2 . So you might want to double check that. If your getting the 3" you chould be fine either way.

Good Luck!

Wow, now there's a reason not to order from a company

I suppose you would never order books from Borders because they use amazon.com for fulfillment?

Well since I have had some recent experience with jusnes and bama chips, I thought I would add my 2cents. What I hate about that whole set up is you don't get to talk directly to bamachips if there is a problem with your tune. Jusnes is the middle man. It's just natural when u explain something to one person by the time it gets to the next, and the next person things change and the explanation the final person gets is different even if it's slightly then the original explanation. I've been waiting now for about 2 months to get a working tune from bama chips. I've never gotten to talk to anyone jusnes or bamachips, just emails. I'm not sure if they don't have a phone for the business or not, but that is just poor customer service. I've been waiting now on a email reply for about a month. That's just my 2 cents on it.

I'm getting the 3". I had already planned on that because if I need to take it into the dealer, I don't want to have to remove the CAI also. with the 3", I can just reprogram the stock tunes and bring it in with the 3" CAI installed. If I had the 3.5", it's my understanding that I would have to remove the CAI, and replace the stock version, and then reprogram to stock tunes. Thanks for the heads up, but I already have that under control.

Hump, odd as I dealt directly with Doug at Bamachips. If he didn't answer his phone immediately, I always got a call back within 24 hours (which is MUCH more than I can say with my dealings with TP)... But now that you mention it, I don't think that Doug lists his phone number on his website. I think I did a quick internet search, and was able to get his number pretty easily... But yeah, I can understand that it would be pretty tiring dealing with a 'middle-man' when trying to describe how you want a tune to be.
