So now i don't know what to do, or what went wrong. My battery of course died on my. If anyone has had this problem or knows of what to check or fix i would appreciate the help on this one.
Update: I have fixed my truck, I ended up taking it to ford, and they had to reprogram my pcm. it cost me $90, but am so glad it works again. Now when my new evolution arrives tommorow, im not sure if i want to try again and install it. Im nervous it will happen again. Thanks all for your help, i expected it to take me 10 minutes and my truck would be unleashed, now days later im am dissappointed.
i had the same thing happen on one of my diablo chips before. just make sure the ignition is off and you follow the steps precisely.
my little clip that keeps the wire attached to the module broke and everytime i hit a bump it comes undone. trying to get a hold of edge now to get a replacement unit.

A possibility; Is there a code stored? If yes and it is P1639, the VID software block is corrupted.
If that is the case a dash Hec code will also point to the same problem but from outside the PCM because the two are linked and look at one another for a check.
The PATS usually will flash a code 1:6 if you leave the key on at least 1 minute or do the dash Hec code test and get a read-out on the odometer.
This code says the Pats and the PCM are missing matching information such that the PCM will not allow starting.
This disallowence of starting is what it's supposed to do when there is a mismatch.
Again this is only if you see these indications.
Only way around it is a reflash.
If you go and have this done, take two keys for the complete reflash because the key codes even change or you still won't be able to start the motor even after a re flash..
Good luck.

To reset your Anti-Theft system, turn the ignition switch to the "On" position (DO NOT START). After 30 - 40 seconds the Anti-Theft light should stop flashing, turn the key off and remove thr key. Wait 30 seconds, insert key, and attempt to start.

Anyway, my truck started having electrical fits (drained battery one morning with nothing left on all night about a week or so ago)...Failsafe Mode several times over the last several months (oh yeah, baby!). Sometimes the unit wouldn't even power up when I started the truck. I would have to pull it from the pod, unplug the cable and plug it back in to get it to turn on.
Now it goes into Failsafe Mode EVERY time I try and alter the settings on the truck. I can't even change tire size without it flipping out and dumping into Failsafe within one minute or under one mile. But after I change it back into Stock Mode, the truck runs fine. I unplugged it after I put it back to stock the other day.(Saturday, June 16, 2007)
WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?
IDEAS ANYONE??
Save the lectures! Just use me as an example and get on with it! Spending money on a Flash isn't a big deal!
Just throwing a few ideas out there:
1. It sounds as if the problems with the Edge started as a result of the electrical problems you experienced. It has been documented by others here that the Edge and electrical problems (e.g., battery failure) don't play well with one another. The symptoms you described sound very similar to what happened to a few other folks when their batteries died. As you're probably aware, the OEM batteries are not known for their longevity.
2. The good news: If your truck is running fine when returned to stock, then you won't need a reflash.
Here's what I would try first:
Use the Lightning software to update your Edge. Even if you're already running the latest updates, use the software to download the updates into the device *again*. This will help if the firmware on the Edge was somehow corrupted by the electrical problem. If that doesn't help, then I would guess that your Edge is defective. If you're still under warranty, Edge Products will replace it for free.
