Bill

Ya, still anxiously awaiting for the average mpg readout. (For the fortunate FX4 owners).

I thought the MPG was available now.

Granted I have been reluctant to download any updates at this point.

The instant mpg is available now. If you are sitting still is reads 0 mpg. The avg MPG is not available, yet.

Having used a Scanguage for awhile, I tried the instant mpg, and got tired of it quick. Good for demonstration purposes, but not really user friendly. Scanguage has an instant setting, the avg since fill up, and also a current setting. Meaning the avg for that trip only. Really good for showing the difference in short trips around town. Kills your mileage! We only live 1.5 miles from Walmart. My wife goes shopping and would only avg 11.9 for the day. Just a few more miles around town and I could get it up to 13-14. So it will be fun to see how creative Bill gets with this thing once he has the time.

ASE, Most of us on here greatly appreciate your efforts and understand the time a blood and sweat that goes into a new product line. My edge works awesome. Keep up the good work

How can I read my hex code. Can i pull it up on one of the screens? It flashed it up the first time but i wanna write it down cause I cant find my sticker on the door.

I've found the instantaneous mileage readout useful for improving my driving style to get the most MPG from my truck. With feedback from the Edge, I've found a good throttle technique for acceleration from a stop as well as good speeds for driving around the city (about 40-45 MPH seems to give the best MPG for my truck in my daily driving). In some of my other posts, I discussed the MPG improvements I've seen with the Edge. I would have to attribute at least some of those gains to the "right-foot actuator" feedback that the Edge provides.

I, too, would like to see an "Average MPG" reading on the Edge, but the instantaneous MPG readout provided the immediate feedback I needed to improve my driving technique and help maximize MPG.

Check out page 10 in the user's manual. You need to unplug the Edge, turn on the key, and plug in the Edge. The hex code should come up after the warning screen (if you still have warnings left).

Go to the [Diagnostics] -> [Version] screen. It'll be displayed there.

Anyway that one of these updates can be a way to turn down, or outright kill, the torgue management? I'll even let you use my truck as the test mule for it.

speaking of all these updates, does it hurt the pcm to have to keep returning back to stock then update, all the time? do we update everytime you guys put something out? is there a rule of thumb here? and how do we know when we should update? maybe someone can ask online tonight....what is that url again for the edge radio program? thanks guys....i just noticed that i have the version that is not up to date based on the asemechanics poste a few back.....was wondering if this will effect my windows 98se version that you guys just fixed? thanks for all the hard work on this product! if i can ever get the truck away from my wife i could play more!

Okay I downloaded an update to the unit via your software for my 05 F150 5.4. Does this harm my OEM info stored inside the unit when I first hooked it to my truck?

Before you do any updates, the vehicle needs to be returned to stock calibration. When you plug the unit to your truck, the Edge gets and stores your stock tune in its memory. Then writes the new code to your truck.

You are right but it would be nice if they gave me one. I have been trying to contact their tech support for 2 days. No manual or cd was in my box. I assume they expect me to download it but I have not done that yet since I dont have a PDF reader on this laptop.
