Hi Neal,

OK, well it's good to hear that your headers are coming along, at any rate.

Shame on you, picking on those poor little 318 Mopar's.

HI!... Well DEON you will want to start off with a "79" or later 351-w block, preferably a "69"-"70" block because they have thicker main webbing and pan rails. Stay away from the "80" and newer blocks because they contain half the nickel of the older blocks. Get sa CALLEY's 4.00 stroke forged crank, it is top of the line but worth it. Stay away from the modified 400-M cast crank because it's not too strong and can't handle much more than 6000rpm. Get a good set of rods like a set of EAGLE ESP rods with ARP rod bolts. Get a good set of billet splayed 4-bolt main caps and top them with a DSS aluminum main cap girtle. Run a MELLING high volume oil pump with a chrome moly pump shaft. Depending on the cylinder heads you decide to use you might have to get custom pistons made. I'll be using TRICK FLOW TWISTED WEDGE "R" aluminum heads that will be fully ported and polished. Get a good aluminum intake manifold like a EDELBROCK "PERFORMER RPM" for the street (duel plane) or a "VICTOR JR" (single plane) fro the strip. Make sure you have a good deep oil pan like at least 6 quarts capacity. Top it off with a good HOLLY or DEMON 750-850 CFM double pumper carb. My set-up would be close to $15,000 (CAN), but with the right cam selection you can make an easy 550-600h.p with 11-12.1 compression. Hope this helps you out and feel free to ask any questions you need answered.

Thanks!!

Sounds like a good combo. I already have a 76 block, haven't torn it down yet, but I plan on taking my time to do it right the first time...

Neal, how do you like the pulleys? Can you actually feel a difference? The guys who work at a truck place around here say they give you high end hp. Is that true? I also here they make your engine run hotter and your a/c doesnt work as well. Im thinking this is the next mod i want to get after i get my gears changed, but im not sure.

2000 5.4 regular cab 3:55ls(soon to be 4:10 i think)
catback w/flowmaster
Superchip(scheduled to be here on the 27th)
jet air intake
billet grille
tint
alarm keyless entry
6"suspension lift, 285/75-16 tires, Weld rims

HI!... RYSHARK5 : The guys at your local truck performance shop are right on the top end h.p increase. My truck revs a lot quicker above 4500rpm, all the way up to my 5700rpm rev limiter. It seems to come off the line a little bit quicker also. I have noticed no increase in engine temperature at all and I really beat the crap out of her sometimes!LOL! My air conditioning is still as cold as it was before I installed the pulleys. I don't know why so many people on this site are having problems with them. All I know is that I'm not having any problems with the ASP POWER PULLEYS at ALL! Hope this helps you out.

Neal-
Thanks for your advice, im going to get my self a set of those pulleys. I know there are a few brands out there but im going to go with the ones you have since they seem to be working good. ASP right? Where did you go about getting those? Can you get them off the internet or Summit Racing? So are they pretty easy to install myself? And if something was to go wrong with my engine would i be able to put the old ones back on, just incase they tell me the pulleys voided my warranty? For now i think the gears may be more important though, with my 285/75-16. So after i get gears would the pulleys be the next best thing you would recommend? I already have the 3"catback w/flowmaster, jet air intake and a superchip which should be here any day now. Thanks

Slick X,
I saw in your signature that you have seat covers on your expedition. Is there a website where I can purchase these? What type of material are they made of? How much were they? Also, how much and where did you get the kb supercharger? Thanks in advance.

The seat covers are wet okole and are very high quality covers. Their web site is www.wetokole.com. The supercharger is from truck performance center and was 3500 dollars shipped.

HI!... RYSHARK5 : I got my ASP POWER PULLEYS from this sites ONLINE STORE run by ROGER LEMERE. It consists of a waterpump and crank/harmonic balancer pulleys. Except for their size, they look just like your stock pulleys and unless the dealerships mechanics have a very good eye, then you should not have a problem. My dealer knows all about my mods to my truck and does'nt seem to really care. It's been in to them for a lot of warrenty work too!LOL! I think it would be a good "NEXT" mod for you to do. Then you have to get yourself a set of headers next!LOL!

HI!... SLICK X : It will probably be about another year before a KENNE BELL sits on my 5.4!LOL! You have to remember that a KENNE BELL supercharger will cost me about $5300.00(CAN) and I'm not made of money!LOL! SLICK X : How do you like the KENNE BELL? Any problems with it? Ant problems with a custom SUPERCHIP program? LEAN or RICH problems? Just curious. Have you got any 1/4 mile times with your EXPY yet? If so what was your best time, 60ft?, 1/4?, mph? Sorry for all the questions.LOL! I hope to get my truck to run in the high 14's this SEPTEMBER. I ran a 15.39 at the last MILAN MEET, but that was with me spinning the tires all the way through 1st gear! Still had a 92mph finish though.

HI!... RYSHARK5 : What was your stock tire size. If I have that tire size and with your current tire size of 32.83 (diameter), I can figure out on my DRAGMATH program what gear size you will need to get back to 3.55 ratio or if you want more gear for better excelleration purposes!LOL! Let me know.

Hey Neal, as far as the kenne bell goes I have had no problems whatsoever(knock on wood)and the kit is very high quality. The kit runs excellent without the superchip. Air fuel ratio seems to be correct and Jim Bell says the kit runs better without aftermarket chips. I had the kenne bell shift valve installed in my e4od to firm up the shift points(included in kit). The boost a pump was also included with the kit. Everywhere I go I get complements of the kit. The autometer guages I installed tip everyone off there is a blower under the hood. I have not got a chance to get out to the strip yet but hope to do so soon. I am guessing somewhere in the low 15s to high 14s. You have to remember I have a lot more weight to push around than that reg cab of yours.

Hi neal, My stock tires were 235 now i have 285/75-16 i think the 235s are 30". I want a lot of performance out of the new gears i get but i also have to drive about 35 miles to school. So id like to get somewhat desent gas mileage too. What do you think? Oh yeah, can we put throtle body spacer things on these 5.4s? Are they any good?

Oh yeah since this is the victories thread i have to mention. The other day a Tacoma 5spd (not sure what engine size) tried to get in front of me on a 3 lane street which was merging into only 2 lanes. Well he didnt even come close. So my big ol full size lifted truck beat his little 5spd.
