Cool

HI!... RYSHARK5 : I almost forgot! What ever you do, do not buy a POWERAID TB spacer. It is a peice of junk!! I have one and it is now a very expensive paper weight!LOL! I installed it at the 1/4 mile and ran with it on and off. There was absolutely no increase at all. There was also a very loud "squeeling" sound every time you slightly touched the gas! It drove me nuts! Sounds like a huge vacuum leak almost. Somewhere on this site someone dynoed their engine with one on and it actually caused them to loose h.p and a bit og torque! Hope this helps you out.

Neal-
Thanks for the info on the Throttle Body spacer i will definitely not be getting one of those. My stock tires were either 235/70-R16 or 235/75-R16, i think its the 235/75-R16. My new ones are 285/75-R16. And as you know i have the 3:55ls gears now. I got a victory today. It was at the on-ramp red light to get on the freeway. The double lane merges into one lane. I always try to get in front on this on-ramp but today was the first time somebody else has the same idea. Some girl, thinking she was cool in her late model Honda Prelude, which had the sports car look. This one was kinda close though i came out on top. Its kinda sluggish off the start but after about 40mph it gets going. I need to get those 3:55s outta there! Have you tried racing a 94-96 mustang gt? If so how does that go? Thanks again.

HI!... RYSHARK5 :I just finished working on your tires size/gear combo on my DRAGMATH program. Right now with your 3.55 gears and 285/75-R16 (32.83) tires, your 3.55's feel like 3.23's. (or FORD's closest gear ratio 3.27). Now with 4.10 gears and your 32.83 tires your 4.10's will feel like 3.73's. Now with 4.30 gears and your 32.83 tires your 4.30's would feel like 3.91's. With you having a 5.4 engine, you will have the STERLING 9.75 rear end. Gear ratio's for this rear end are limited. I know their are company's out there that make 3.55's, 3.73's, and 4.10's gear ratio's for the 9.75, but I don't know about the 4.30 gear ratio. If you can get the 4.30's that would be your best bet. It will give you better performance than the 29.88 (235/75-R16) with you 3.55's. So that would solve your "GET UP AND GO" problem with your 32.83 tires. Hope this helps you out.

HI!... RYSHARK5 : I have not raced a "94" - "96" MUSTANG yet, but I have raced a "92" 5.0 ,auto, convertable, 3.55 geared MUSTANG. I beat him by about 4 truck lengths! There is a guy around town here though that I hear wants to run me with his "94", auto, convertable, 3.55 geared, K&N filter, FLOWMASTERS MUSTANG. I told his freinds "ANYTIME", but every time he wants to race he never shows up! 3 times now! Mabey THIS weekend!LOL! Since the SN-95 chassis MUSTANGS are sopposed to be heavier than the older ("92") ones, I think it would be a good race, FOR ME!lol!

RyShark5. If you find the 4.10 gears for your 9.75" rear end and the 8.8 Ford front axle, let me know. I'm still on the hunt as well.

HI!... Well guys it's been a while, but I managed to get two more "VICTIMS" tonight. The first one was a young kid in a "96" or "97" MUSTANG COUPE, 4.6, AUTO, 3.55(I GUESS?). We were at a light next to each other at about 11:15P.M. It had just finished raining a couple hours before so the roads were a little bit wet in some areas. At this particular light there was some standing water. Anyway the light turned green and we both left normal. I pulled him slightly and I was about 2 truck lengths in front of him. We were both doing the speed limit. Then we got up to the next light. It was flashing red at all corners because of the storm. I stopped first and then he got next to me and stopped. I looked for traffic and the proceeded to cross the intersection. He stayed with me, but about a truck length behind me. Then he accelerated to get up next to me. I noticed out of the corner of my eye, that he had rolled his window down and was listening to my side exhaust and checking out my truck. Well then we had to stop for another flashing red light intersection. We both left at the same time side by side. At about 15mph he all of a sudden jumped on it. I immediatly dropped it into 1st gear and stomped on it. I took him by about a half truck length and as soon as I chirped into 2nd gear I pulled him by about 2 truck lengths and kept pulling away from him. I shut it down when I hit about 90mph and he was way back there. At the next red light he caught up to me and honked his horn at me. He rolled his passenger window down and yelled over to me " What do you got done to that truck, it flys!" I told him what I tell all my "VICTIMS"."It's totally stock except for the exhaust!" He said "COOL" and then the light turned green and he went straight and I turned at my exit.

The 2nd "VICTIM" was a older guy in a "97"-"98" F-150, longbox, reg-cab, 4.6, auto. This was at about 1:30A.M at the same light as the MUSTANG tried to go me.LOL! Well the light turned green and he squeeled his tires and then I went to FULL power!LOL. It was'nt even a race! I destroyed this guy by about 15 truck lengths! When he caught up to me at the next red light he said to me "MAN! That truck moves!" I said to him "Of coarse it does, it's a FORD!"LOL!

Neal

Have you been to a Dyno yet ?? With an "estimated" 340 hp and 425 ft/lbs torque you should be able to run in the low 14's.

Actually if you can get it to hook up you should be able to beat my Lightning...

Doug

Hey Neal!

You should have been there (Norfolk Rally), you would have LOVED the drag strip event, everyone had great laughs along with seeing some great cars.

Question

How do you guys know what the other guy has for engine, gears, and mods? Also will a stock 2000 f150 5.4 offroad beat a stock 2000 chevy 5.3?
My truck only has 455 miles on it and tried to get a 99 or newer chevy to run, he would not go for it. Does the velocity tubes really add that much? well enough questions for this day. Any advice on the first mods i should make will help . Thanks, Benny

Hi Benny,

Well, you don't know what a given vehicle has just from looking at it in most cases, that's half the fun of street "encounters", you never know what you're up against.

I wouldn't expect you to beat a 5.3 Chevy with as heavy a truck as you have there, that Offroad package adds a lot of additional weight. Their 5.3 is strong, and they carry a bit less weight. But there are always things you can do to help improve your performance, so you can "fool" the other guy next to you.

In other words, you can't just go by engine size alone in the stoplight grand prix, as the weight & gearing of each vehicle is generally an unknown. The potential weight difference alone is why a 2WD short-cab 5.4 can get into the 15's in the 1/4 mile very easily, and other heavier 5.4 4WD Offroad's will be much slower. Power-to-weight ratio & gearing is what it all gets down to.
