Wink

I had a chevy 'time' a light AFTER I beat him four times.
I let him go that time, I felt I proved my point.
That was before my Tire fiasco, and before the chip reprogram so I was only running 3/4 throttle to avoid detonation.

Hey JMC,

He obviously wasn't up for a straight confrontation between vehicles, I'll bet that's why he never "staged" properly.

"Not bad for a 318", yep, he must really be grinning!

Get 'em, JMC!

Hey Neal,

Any sign of that 5.0 Ranger that IzzyEddy mentioned? I know there are a few kits to put the 5.0 in a Ranger...

HI Neal,

You got 'em once again, eh? We can always count on you!

I see you listed a 4.0 SOHC Explorer 4X2, those are actually pretty quick stock. They make 205 hp and have a 5-speed automatic, and with the lighter weight of the 2WD, they can easily rip off sub-8 second 0-60 times. Was that one of the quicker ones you ran, would you say?

Glad to hear you're loving that shift kit, but then, for guys like you and I that have had manual valve bodies in automatics, you're never satisfied until you get that same feeling back, I know all too well.

Have fun Neal,

HI!... MIKE T : Those 4.0 SOHC EXPLORERS can run 0-60mph in 8 seconds all they want because I can do it in 6.3 seconds!LOL!

It's funny you mentioned the EXPLORER because on MONDAY night I ran a red one and destroyed him. He held on to me about half way through 1st gear, but after that I walked away from him.

HI Neal!

Of course I know your truck will easily outrun even those lighter SOHC Explorers, I was just wondering if that one was among the quicker of your "victims" during that time?

Explorers, even the later body style that started in '95, can have anything from a 160 hp 4.0 V-6 to the 210 hp newest SOHC V-6's, to the 5.0 V-8.

The quickest of course is the configuration you ran against, a 2WD SOHC V-6, so I was just curious as to how quick that Explorer was in relation to the other vehicles you ran during that "batch" of kills.

Be careful,

Thumbs down

Neal,

I didn't race at all sat night. You drove right past me west bound on Tecumseh on your way back from a "Run". I was just east of Howard in front of The Shoppers Drug Mart facing east. Had the 4 ways on waiting for a tow truck. I started off from the light at Howard and the rear end went BANG. It coasted across Howard and made some nasty grinding sounds and then I would not budge. Abrams towed it to Moe Campbell's. I drop in on Monday to tell them what happened. Same thing happened on my 97, took 3-4 weeks for a new rear end to shoe up.

Regards

JMC

What Neal didn't slow down for a fellow Ford?
I always do. In fact that and the cops are the only things I slow down for!

Wanna race? I bet I can beat ya on foot. (he he)
I we wish you a speedy recovery, so we can beat you properly at next Milan meet.

ATST,

Neal called me Sunday night to ask where I went. He haden't notice me when he drove by. I bycicled to the dealer and left them the key this morning. I don't expect they will even look at it today. If The F-150 had a full floating axle I could have still driven it around, after a few turns of a wrench or two. Yes I took out the Chip just to be safe.

regards

HI!... Well guys I got another "VICTIM" last night. It was THURSDAY night, and I had just finished coming from the local cruise night car show at the city's market square. I decided to go for a small cruise before heading home for the night. I was going down this 3 lane road and got stopped at a red light. While waiting for the light to turn green, I noticed this silver/grey car coming up behind me at a very high rate of speed. Just before he hit the red light he jumped over 2 lanes and got into the empty lane at the far left of me. I was in the far right lane and there was a regular F-150 between us. The silver car was sticking out way past the white line so I looked over and noticed it was a very late "90's" (possibly brand new) silver TAURAS SHO V-8. (3.4 I beleive ?) Well when the turning light came up first he stomped on it then on the brakes when he realized what had happened. Now I knew he was going to fly when the light turned green for us. The funny thing is he never even knew that I was there and that he was about to get a race with me!LOL! Well the light turned green and I waited for him to make the 1st move. He stomped on it and his tires squeeled. I nailed it and the race was on!. At first he was about 2 car lengths in front because I wanted for him to go first, but as soon as I topped out in 1st gear I was already about 2 truck lenths in front of him. I then topped out in 2nd gear and he was about 6 truck lengths behind. When i got topped out in 3rd (about 110mph) gear, he was so far behind it was funny! And yes I laughed out loud!LOL! I thought these v-8 SHO's were sopposed to be fast? NOT! I personally think that a older "93-94" SHO would be a way better race for me. By the way, when we both got up to the next light he yelled over to me "WOW! That's a fast truck" I responded by saying " NO! You just have a really SLOW car" What can I say, I was'nt in a very good mood last night!LOL!

HI!... Well guys I only had 2 "VICTIMS" tonight. The 1st was a older buisness man in a "98" DODGE MINIVAN, 3.8 V-6, AUTO. He cut me off at a light, and I followed him. We got up to a red light, and he turned right, so did I . As soon as he made the corner he floored it. As soon as I turned the corner I stomped on it. At the top end of 1st gear I caught him. The top of 2nd gear I was about 5 truck lengths in front, and then he gave up. As he should of!LOL.

The second victim was a young guy in a "99" or "2000" SILVER GRAND PRIX GTP (DAYTONA version)3.8 V-6 SUPERCHARGED, AUTO (I think?) Well he was riding my a$$ for about 5 blocks, and it was obvious that he wanted to play. JMC got out of his way so he could come up closer to me. Well we got up to a corner. I turned right very slowly in 1st gear, with this GTP right on my A$$! I heard him floor it and spinning his tires. He tried to go out on my left to pass. NOT!lol. I stomped on it and the race was on! 1st gear I had him by 2 truck lengths. 2nd gear I had him by about the same. As I was getting close to 5000rpm in 3rd gear he was at my back bumper and closing very, very slowly. I turned my overdrive on at about 110mph and his front bumper was at my door. I don't know if those GTP's have a top speed limiter or not, but right around the time I went into overdrive the GTP slowed suddenly. I kept it to the floor till I got up to 4200rpm in overdrive. That's about 128mph. That is probably the closest race I have had to date! He would of most likely got me on top speed for sure, but in the 1/4 mile I think I would of ended up beating him by a truck length or two.

By the way what is so speical about this GTP with the DAYTONA and 2 checker flag emblems on the back? I think it had some kind of RAM AIR hood on it too. I think the regular GTP 3.8 V-6 supercharged is 245h.p.? But someone told me they make one called the GTX? That is sopposed to have 260h.p??. I f anyone could shed some light on this I would appreiciate it. Just curios.lol!

Hey Neal,

Those GTP's can run low 15's-high-14's stock! No wonder he gave you such a run!

And, most of those guys who are out playing with them are using smaller diameter supercharger pulleys on the snout of that Eaton twin-screw blower, which will make the quicker units drop into the mid-14's in the 1/4 mile. To say nothing of other mods he may very well have made.

And yes, I think you got it, he hit his top speed limiter and *that* was what shut down his fun, and put you over the top when you guys were well into triple-digit speeds. (Thank God your tires are new!) He's much, much lighter than you, with a *lot* of torque and decent horsepower in that blown 3.8, those are some wicked little machines.

I think you did *darn* good to even keep up with that vehicle, let alone beating him like that, by overtaking his original 2-length lead off the line.

Nice run!

HI!... MIKE T. the GTP did'nt have a 2 car lead on me. He was about a half car length behind me and then he stomped on it, and tried to go around me. As soon as he got next to me I floored it. It would be a very interesting race if we could both go at it from a dead start, 1/4 mile shot!LOL!
