Angry Rust inside doors

I had the notorious rust in the door lips and tailgate. I even had bubbles appearing on the outside of the tailgate. My truck is a 2000 and I took it in 6 months ago and my dealer told me to come back 1 month before the 3/36 warranty was up. I dropped it off Monday and the called me today and told me it was done. Cool right? Wrong, I got there and inspected it before I went in. The door jams look great, the tailgate was done on the inside but did not fix the bubbles on the outside, and my passenger side has scratches all the way done it and the tailgate was all scratched up too. I store my truck and keep it mint and I know exactaly where very inperfection is. They are acting like the didn't do it and that the inspect all vehicles when the come in. I left the truck there and told them it will sit there until it's fixed. They said the service manger will inspect it tomorrow to decide what to do. They better fix it, or I will never make another payment on it. What do you guys think, and have you ever had anything similar happen? Thanks, sorry this so long, but I needed to vent.
Dan

i would keep pressuring them cause FORD dealers are a b_tch to deal with. Do you keep your truck waxed? A 2000 shouldnt be rusting even slightly. I have extremely minute rusting on the inside lip of my door on the bottom, but i just keep alot of wax on it. That seems to stop what very little moisture sits on there.

the bottoms of my 99 doors were VERY rusty on the inside, however the tailgate looked great. Brought it in and they redid all the doors and the tailgate for just over $50. not to bad although it shouldnt of happened in the first place

My truck is mint, I barely ever drive it, it barely comes out in the winter and it is always clean. I wax it regularly. I even wax the jams, under the door, and I even wax the skid plates underneath. Almost every used F-150 I see has rust bubbles starting in the doors.

Cool

My tailgate and main doors had minimal rust, and they completely replaced them. The doors look great although they were not buffed out well enough in my opinion. They still have a haze from color sanding The tailgate is another story altogether. Compared to the factory paint, it has a green tint to it. It looks good aside from not matching the bedsides, lol! Hey at least I lost the door cracks and rusty tailgate for $97 under 75k warranty. (cost of a rental car for 9 days) That was good enough for me. I'm going to do a full two stage buff and wax about mid January, that should take care of the scratches. I also plan to shave the tailgate someday, and that'll take care of the badly matched paint.,,,,98

I know it's not a popular thing here, but I've had all my trucks since 1987 rustproofed and I have never had a problem with the kinds of rust everybody else is experiencing.

Just get the doors, tailgate, and inside of the bumpers rust proofed. It will pay off over the years.

The rust may not be your fault, I don't remember where I furst saw this but apparently there is a TSB out that in some F-150 the adhesive used to hold the door skins together was defective, because it contained too much water. This causes a rusting problem that is due to this excess moisture. I have not researched this but it would be worth looking into. I also have found some rust bubbles on my doors and tailgates, and I am **** about keeping my truck clean and waxed. I will try to find more info on this rust problem but I am pretty sure Ford is aware of it, but has not done much to make the public (F-150 buyers) aware of it.

Lightbulb

That's exactly what the rep told me, but that mine was left out altogether. As in completely devoid of seam sealer. They made an appointment within 5 minutes of seeing the truck. I'm not sure whether they did it because it was rusting, or that the 75k warranty was still in effect, or a combination of both? I wish luck to all you guys with rusty doors. I hope you all can get it fixed,,,,98

Normally I am a nice guy, really , but when it comes to my truck and taking it in to anyone be it Ford or anyone else for something I can not do myself I am, well basically a *****.

I have, in the case of Ford, the service manager or someone that can represent him come out to my truck. I have him/her do a complete walk around of my truck, showing that there is no scratches, dings, dents etc. I then have them inspect the inside, seats, door handles, steering wheel, dash etc to show him/her there is no grease, oil and any type of stains on the inside. I then ask that they put this inspection on the service order and initial it stated what we did and no stains, scratches etc are on the truck.

When I pick it up I do my own walk around and re-inspect the truck. If I find any problems I have the service manager come out and verify it.

This has worked great 3 times. One time approx. 6 months ago I had to have the gasket and head replaced due to leaky head gasket. I told them to make sure they did not scratch it. There is NO reason for them to scratch a truck what so ever. Anyway when I picked it up after 1 week there were some small scrathes on it where some MORON leaned over the truck without protecting the fender. Since it was on the service order there were NONE, the dealer paid a proffesional detailer to repair the scratches. They wanted to fix it, I said no.

The other two times some MORON got in the truck and got grease or oil in the steering wheel, inside door handles, and a spot on the seat. NO reason for that to happen either. Had a proffesional detailer take care of that one too...

You would think they would take care of the truck like it was there own. Well, maybe they do. Alot of people don't give a crap about their trucks/cars. I bet if everyone did as I did service would be better and they would pay ATTENTION to detail...

I really am a nice guy, with the exception of my truck

Anybody know the TSB number for the "defective adhesive"?

Thanks!
