Lots of posts in the past about this. Might want to try to search for steps on Claying your paint and also using a mild polish like Meguiar's #9 after the clay. You can apply it by hand since your new paint won't have many imperfections in it.

Make sure to use 100% cotton towels for all paintwork! Be aware, some towels say 100% cotton loop. The backing in these has polyester. Make sure they are 100% cotton through and through.

A good paint sealant is also in order for long lasting protection.

Two of my favorites are Klasse Sealant Glaze and Pro's Profection.

Klasse SG darkens the color of the paint and makes it really deep and dark. Three coats lasted 6 months on my truck w/ weekly washings. It was still beading at 6 months when I stripped it off.

I also like Pro's Profection. I haven't found another synthetic that buffs of easier than this stuff. It is also an amino functional polymer, which is one of the most durable you'll find in a car care product. It is suppose to bead water for 6 months and stay bonded to paint for 2 years. A quart of this stuff would last you for years even when doing several vehicles. Get it at prowax.com. BTW, I use only Pro products for all my detailing so feel free to look around their site some more.
