Window Cleaner

I'm having a bit of a problem cleaning my windows. When I clean them I'm getting swirl marks. Almost like wax is on the windows, but I use paper towels. I realize this could come from my towels when I dry of my truck, but is there any products you can recommend taking this off????

i tried quite a few glass cleaners. none of them would get that film off the inside of the front window without a whole lot of work and a sore arm afterwards. I ordered some zaino glass polish and tried it and OMG! its gotta be the easiest stuff i've ever used...just apply it to the window like any wax or polish by hand, let it haze, buff it off. and it buffs right off...hardly any rubbing. then i just go over it really quick with a clean rag and its crystal clear! stuff works awsome! www.zainobros.com i think its the z12

Harley, yeah I'm familiar with the Zaino line. I use them on my truck, but I haven't tried the Glass Cleaner. I did consider it, but didn't know of anyone who used it. Since hearing it works great I may have to give it a try.

I use Pro's Glass Cleaner and a Microfiber towel (the ones from YoSteve.com)

It cuts through that film like nothing, eats through the residue from smoke, is safe on tint, and is fool proof when used with a MF towel.

I detail for money so I don't have time to be fooling around trying to get streak free windows. I have found this combination to work best.

can get the glass cleaner from prowax.com

Stoner's invisible Glass and two microfiber towels has always been enough to [b]clean]/b] my windows. Zaino Z12 is a glass polish for glass that is not smooth, has embedded partivles, or many small chips or sandblasted. Not designed for use for mild cleaning.

Thanks for the response guys. All the info is very helpful, I just purchased 5 Micro Fiber towels from YoSteve.com.... so I guess that's good timing! I've been very busy lately and just heard about the towels a week ago.... they sound great, so I'll be using one on my windows

Ok, stupid question, but hey how else am I going to learn.

What is better about using a Micro Fiber towel for cleaning windows rather then say regular paper towels? I know from reading these post it is better but just wanted to know why.

Next question, is using a micro fiber towel like a paper towel. In other words do you throw them out when done or soiled, or can you wash them and re-use? If so, for how long?

Thanks, and no I don't live out in the woods...

Thumbs up Window Cleaning Tip

Try going to the hardware store and picking up the finest steel wool as possible. Spray down your window with the window cleaner spray and wipe with the steel wool gently. Finish it off with a microfiber towel. I have done this and it has removed all films and leaves no swirl marks. I learned of this from a person who shows and details cars/trucks.

I was worried about scratching the glass but the ultra fine steel wool along with very little pressure worked extreamly well to remove all blemishs and restores the window to near new condition minus chips and dings.

Give it a try. I think you might be impressed by the results and it is cheaper than all these window polishes with same if not better results.

The MF towels can clean by themselves. The Little bit of window cleaner I use only helps break down the film. The fibers in the MF towel are designed to lift stuff off the surface. I can get rid of all the streaks on my window w/ just a Mf towel. W/ a paper towel you keep having to use a little window cleaner. MF towels are just easier to get a streak free finish with.

You can wash MF towels and you can keep them until they fall apart, which mine haven't even done yet.

ummm....yeah it is. i know alot of guys on the boards that use zaino glass polish on their windows. here's a quote from their site on what its good for

Finally, a glass cleaner and polish that really works. We have yet to find a stain that it did not remove. Formulated with modified cleaners and mild abrasives, that deep cleans and polishes all glass surfaces. Removes acid rain, water spots, road film, stubborn stains, annoying interior glass film and fine to medium scratches. This product will remove plasticizing (the hazy film that attaches to the inside of the windshield on all late model vehicles) in one application. Leaves glass crystal clear and sparkling. You will think the glass disappeared. Will not scratch or distort glass. Great for restoring old windshields. Can also be used to clean chrome and metal surfaces. For hand or machine use. Not for use on Coated Glass, painted or plastic surfaces
Does alot of the things regular glass clear does, but does it better

works great for getting that window film off the inside in one easy hand application. its a mild cleaner...not just for totally worn glass

Three weeks ago I ordered some more supplies, running out, and didn't even think about trying their glass cleaner. Will have to wait till next time since its $6.95 for shipping...
