Wax isn't everything. Prep work is!

Edit: Alright, that's all of them... ummm maybe I should have warned 56k'ers in the title...

Soapbox time

I see people posting pictures all the time of reflections in their paint to show how great a wax is. (not just this forum but everywhere) It is hard to judge a wax from pictures! You really need to see the car in real and not a picture. You need to use the wax yourself.

Well, Here is my F-150. I've posted this picture before. There is NO wax on the truck. It is all prep work. I did a few areas with Pro's DUZ-all and then polished it all with Pro's Swirl Eliminator. Look at the reflection!

Today I worked on a Highlander with blue metallic paint on it. Here is a pic of the full vehicle. These pictures are before any wax was applied. I used Pro's DUZ-all in a few spots to hit scratches and then used Pro's Swirl Eliminator to finish the job up. No wax was on the vehicle.

Here's a reflection into the door.

Here's a reflection into the back gate. That carport is a long way back. Like over 100ft.

Here's a reflection of the house next door. Yes, they are raising it. Something quite common in Nawlins. Ground sinks here.

I also couldn't resist this picture. Look at the clean glass I found facing the vehicle into the sun when cleaning the glass really helps bring out the streaks you forgot!

So...Prep work is everything!!!! Once you learn how to polish a vehicle you will get the reflection you are looking for!

Now, wax will help make the car wet and will help the depth of the car. Wax also provides protection for the car. You can't skip waxing so you might as well get some good wax

We still need to polish your truck beast. I need to do my truck first though. Stripped all the Klasse SG off it today and there is a big difference. I'll need to polish it up and get that SG back on it.

I know. I think we'll leave it like that! It just adds something to the truck. I'll need to upload the pictures of us working under the floodlights.

Scratch X

I know this may seem like a dumb question, but ......How do you apply this product to get rid of swirls etc. ? In a circular or straight-line rubbing motion. ( I am asumming circular pattern as buffers have been mentioned.

For hand application do back and forth. Meguiar's #9 would be better for hand applying for swirl removal. Scratch X is full of fillers and really meant for single scratches.

As many as you want

I've heard some people going as far as 10 coats. I think Harley#??? did like 10 coats and I think TampaSVT did 10 coats on his. I did 4 on a vehicle once and it really looked good!
